Wisdom Is Peaceable

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

James 3:16-18 KJV
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Time of Deborah in Judges for in the continual scripture study starts with a time when a woman judge was obedient to the Lord. Israel had no king just judges that rule and keep peace in Israel. Canaan had a king. King Jabin oppressed Israel for twenty years til Deborah came along with Barak. When God's people does evil their is going to be an adversary that rises to conquer God's people and control God's people. Deborah was a God fearing woman and obedient to the call of God on her life. She was not afraid to stand up and teach Israel about God and his righteousness. Upon doing so Israel needed a leader to also help in battle, she became Barak partner in war.

Several things to note God does two things when people are in trouble he sends teachers, and warriors. Moses and Aaron would tell you the battle was not theirs to fight, but God did the fighting for Israel. God is not going to let his children go. He will raise up people to instruct and lead his children into freedom. Several things to remember if there is confusion and evil works, then there is jealousy and fighting going on. There is no wisdom in evil. Wisdom from above is first pure and untampered by man. Wisdom is second peaceful, gentle and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Wisdom comes with age some say, but wisdom from God is only as old as God and give to everyone that ask. Wisdom is something needed in life, it something we need from God. It not about the wisdom of youth where one thinks they have all the answers and do not. It is the wisdom of the ages handed from God to his people, to help them in the pathway they should go. God's wisdom is peaceful. God's wisdom is not controlling, it about learning to listen to the ways of God in truth and learning to obey godly wisdom.

Barak was not willing to obey godly wisdom given by Deborah without her going with him. He was not willing to listen to God on his own. He was not willing to obey God without support. When the battle was won it was won by a woman, who gave her husband to help put him to sleep and then she put a nail through her husband's head. The battle won by a woman and not a man, and not by Deborah either. In truth the wisdom of God is not going to send you into battle without weapons to win. God is not going to send you without wisdom, God is not going to send you to fight without peace. Peace being wisdom of peace. Aaron and Moses went with the word of God into spiritual battle and came into the desert from Egypt in Peace, only to land up in a wilderness for a long time of strife and anger. The wisdom of God must be taught, God's people by nature are rebellious, but once taught the ways of God, they learn that wisdom of peace is much better then the wisdom of man. Our trust needs to be in the wisdom of God, obey without a partner or with partner. Sometimes we need for people to witness the wisdom of God. God caused the enemy to flee before Deborah and Barak and then when Barak caught up to the captain of the army of King Jabin, they found him dead with a nail through his temple by Kenite's wife, who was thought to be at peace with King Jabin. The enemy never sees it coming that for sure, but God is going to win the battle. The battle not won in God's army with swords of weapons, but leaning on the everlasting arms of God. Jesus recommended to carry to swords. What two swords are needed by the sword of the Spirit and sword of the Word of God and Christ Jesus. God might lead you with weapons, but you need not one weapon to fight, you need God to lead the victory battle.

God's victory has the fruit of righteousnes, the fruit of wisdom, the fruit is love, joy, peace and gentleness, long suffering, and so forth. Now in the battle of Deborah and Barak verse the enemy it does not seem like love, but God is not going to allow the enemy to oppress his people but for a time, to learn about Him. Moses and Aaron knew God, they were raised up knowing God. Christ is going to be victorious in your life with all wisdom and truth if you learn to trust by faith. If one door slams then another will open. Peace is yours my friends. It comes from the wisdom of the Lord and direction of the Lord. God wants to do something in our lives without weapons of battle but weapons of faith.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to trust in your wisdom of peace and safety, and not weapons of blood shed. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Judge 4:1-9 KJV
1 And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, when Ehud was dead.
2 And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.
3 And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.
4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
6 And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
7 And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.
8 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.
9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
