Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

John 11:41-44 KJV

(41) Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

(42) And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

(43) And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

(44) And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

The need to give thanks to God for hearing is something Jesus taught his disciples. Gratitude toward God is important especially concerning proof of his hearing. Jesus had confidence because of who His Father was and Who His Father created Him to be. Jesus said things for the benefit of his disciples to teach them what they should do when asking with confidence for God to do things for them in regards miracles. To know God’s business as Christ did is to have confidence that when you feel or believe He told you to raise the dead or heal the sick it will be done. Yet healing after the time of Christ did not happen every time in regards of growing limbs back, casting out demons, healing, or resurrection. The seeing of the storms in life calm without hesitation because you asked of God. God sometimes takes you through valleys to show his power and sometimes he delivers to ease your suffering. Sometimes as in the story of Lazarus He raises the dead for the benefit of others to give hope and the ability to believe.

Jesus taught more then just miracles but gratitude of faith. The gratitude toward God reminding who us we are selves are not in charge of the miracles that occur through prayer and supplication of the saints of God and the lost for belief. One can get hung up on the miracles failing to see what surrounding events teaches us.

Dear Heavenly Father we thank you for teaching more then just miracles but to show gratitude for what you promise you will do for us when we ask. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Colossians 1:10-12 KJV
(10) That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
(11) Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
(12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
