The Rescue: Lesson 27

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 9:32-38 KJV
32 As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.
33 And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.
34 But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.
35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

It hard to imagine someone not able to speak all of sudden being able to speak, but this man unable to speak was said to be possessed by a devil, and when the devil was cast out, he began to speak that the crowd understood what he said. The response of the crowd, was they never seen this done in Israel. Pharisees rebuke what they said and said that he cast out the devils through the prince of the devil. In Matthew there was no reply from Jesus, yet he continue on his work healing the sick of all diseases. Why does Matthew not write Jesus response to what was occurring instead Jesus continues to heal. Perhaps he was busy to respond at this point. Maybe he was only one person(humanity speaking) and the need of healing was great. Maybe he was seeing the need for more disciples(labourers) to do the work in the field. Does Jesus need help? No, but he requesting us to care about others as we care about ourselves, to bring people to Jesus.

No Jesus needs no help in ministry, but he in the flesh he needs those that will go out and bring them to him, those that will pray for the sick and see them healed. In the flesh Jesus is limited to how far he physically can reach, but in the Spirit, as the Father on the throne he can be in more places then one. Jesus in the flesh is limited by his house(body), not by his Spirit or his Father. Give a person a phone how many people can they reach by it, and give a person a car, how far can they travel speaking to a crowd. Give a person a donkey and how far can he ride, or even a boat, let us not speak about the feet and how far Christ walked on the earth to share who he was with man. Did Christ limit himself or only the means of which his human body could carry himself.

We live in age Jesus can be shared at the push of one button, and the messages of faith can soar out into the wide stream of computer age. We stop and ask if we are praying in Jesus name why are there a lack of healing? I tell you why, it is easy to skip a post of faith, then it is to sit and listen to the message, no matter how good the speaker is. Yet people can bind together to pray over one post in many states, country, towns and around the world only not to read that God provided an answer. What prayer request has been answered. Yet we has believers include me are idle at times to this fact. We may pray for a request, but make no comment, we may not even mark a request. Not if Jesus is real but he is, why are we not praying as believers harder for those in need. It only take a minute to check a prayer request to see the latest update or see if there is one, because there is alot of repeats online with no updates. There no way to filter through it all or even to remember it all.

I sit and wonder how many people have been healed online? Is there a number, after all some of the biggest televisions ministers claim healing through there television ministry. Then the question comes what is healing in our world today, is it like the time of Christ, of course not in some situations. Jesus makes it clear in Matthew 9:12 KJV "But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick." Then by the end of the chapter the need for help for the harvest. There plenty of sick that need a doctor, need prayer, and need a miracle. Yet people had even heard about the miracles of God did in Israel before Jesus came in the flesh.

The best place to start is with the story of Naaman a captain to the king of Syria, who came to the king of Israel with a letter from the king asking for him to be recovered from Leprosy. Leprosy is still uncurable by medical science today, though there is treatment for it to slow it down I believe. The king rents his clothes because of the request. A great sorrow because Israel had lepers too and he knew not how to cure this man. The Prophet Elisha sent word to the king to find out what was wrong, and then he tell Naaman to go dip seven times into the Jordan and he is made whole. King has no solution but the prophet did. All because of a little girls faith and she knew of a prophet in Samaria could help.

If all had faith as the little girl in God based on what they heard about Jesus, all would perhaps be healed. It not that healing was unheard of in Israel, nor even America that cause people to not have faith, it because no one understand why some are healed and why others are not. There are many false prophets in the world today that claim to be able to heal. Science even doubts these so call healings, because in truth so much fakery is out there. Churches claim the power of Jesus to heal, but all will agree it not always miraclous healing. Some go to doctors with a general ailment and get what some would consider general cure. Then we have those outside the church claim the same cure with the same treatment. Is it the power of God, depends on who you ask? No God gives good gifts to his children and to the heathens of our world, even through science. The miracles are evidence of faith, or prayers, or that some made a request of God with or without understanding who God was, but was given a response. Do we recognize that survival, and healing was impossible without God's intervention. Without testimony no one knows the reason why the miracle. Are you going to share what God has done for you. A devil can and will deny it, but can you? You lived through and received the miracle from God or may of witnessed a miracle and know God's hand in a person's life, can you testify about your witness?

I know this king was befuddled, by the request, because leprosy is incurable, especially in his day. Yet God did a miracle even for the King of Israel not just the king of Syria, Naaman's king, who did not even worship or believe in God. Jesus kept doing what God told him to do despite what the devils(pharisees) said about the healings he did. We have to realize God not going to stop healing, just because you claim something not a miracle, or healing not possible, until Christ returns. Why because he loves his children. Prayer warriors let us pray for those in need, let us pray for those around us, and wait on God healing hand. Let us pray for those with request today. Jesus asked for labors, how many can take at least five minutes to pray for one person. Let us do so. You can pray in car, when you wake, in the park, in the store, washing dishes and so forth. God understands you are busy, but to pray with our heart only takes a few minutes. Let us pray. Praise God and let the people hear those testimony of faith.

Dear Heavenly Father, let your people rise to be prayer warriors you need to be, because of the miracles you are able to do through your people, by just them making a request known. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Philippians 4:6-7 KJV
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

2 Kings 5:1-14 KJV
1 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
2 And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife.
3 And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.
4 And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.
5 And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.
6 And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.
7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
8 And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.
9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
