The Rescue: Lesson 2 10/02/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 11:5-13 KJV
5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?
7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.
8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
One of the biggest complaints of any fire or rescue department is a false alarm. This month especially. There nothing wrong with a oops call that then gets taken care of by someone present on scene not necessarily with skills or medically trained. It the oops call that says something on fire and nothing on fire, the electricity had a power surge in the main breaker or a thundred storm caused a problem. Then there calls that could be prevented if people would only listen to common sense. Drug abuse and alcohol abuse being one issue that can be prevented if people would take on the responsibility of what they use and do. No loss of life would ever exist except on occasion from allergic reaction or medical issue, if people would decide that life is worth living and partying to the point one is to in toxicated to point of either no return, or potential death, is not the answer. I will not tell you not to have a drink. I going to tell you not to let yourself become where you can not control your own actions, that you become someone you are not. When you do police, rescue and even fire departments get those calls because of your stupidity. You maybe stopping someone in need of more serious medical issues caused by health issues, or even an accident, or fire. Think are you in control of yourself. Is this emergency one you brought on yourself, then do not let it happen again.
I assure there is a point to this topic, what constitutes waking up someone from a dead sleep. I have done that one, and I sure others have too. Did you not wake your parent or guardian over a bad dream, sickness, or just plain being to noisy when enter the home after curview. Point being that before becoming adult and often normal part of being an adolescent, child, or baby. Even a baby cries for milk in the middle of the night. What constitute being waken in the middle of the night. Probably the biggest issue of waking someone would be is it an emergency. What is an emergency? Is someone needing food items perhaps when you have company from a long distance that arrived late and you did not know they were coming so your are unprepared? Use to be stores were open 24 hours a day, not in some areas because of the pandemic. It is like 16 hour day or less in many stores. That my friend is another reason for a decrease in economics though it actually might be more expensive to leave a store open 24/7. Now you waken your friend for what: a food item like bread, or meat, and maybe some snack item. The first response is go away, then the friend gets out of bed and goes to cupboard and pulls out the items you need for your company. Does it constitute emergency, perhaps.
Life is short and when we think of emergency we wonder why is faith in God an emergency. We do not know the hour of darkness for our friends, family or strangers. We know not when the call of death will come and our love ones might not be saved. It awful feeling not having assurance of a love one went to heaven to live, until Christ comes. Yet it does happen. The true answer is often we do not know anyone fate, but we can have assurance ourselves through faith in Christ Jesus. Alot of people are good and even the devil quotes scripture, but you know what the Spirit of God speaks to his children and I believe by the Spirit we know our brothers and sisters in Christ.
What is the emergency is sharing Christ and praying for others that their heart be open to receive the message. God gives gifts to his children and one of those gifts is the Holy Spirit. and if we ask for the Holy Spirit he will give us his Spirit to do his work. God does not just tell us to go forth and teach and preach the gospel, he prepared his disciples and he also sent them with the comfort and gifts of his Spirit. If we ask our parents for something and it a good gift do we not receive it. Our tools to win people to Christ is not in things we purchase, but the gifts God gives us. You can be poor and still be a witness for Jesus. You can be rich and not have to use one dime to share Jesus. Just have to be a willing fire truck or rescue squad to get them to the altar of prayer. I not talking necessarily the church altar, the altar where they kneel before God and just say Lord I am a sinner just like my friend here, and I need you to be my Savior and I receive Jesus Christ as payment for my sins and the gift of his Spirit that first seals me, comforts me and enables me to share with other about Jesus. Thank you Lord. Christians sometimes fail and understand that some have put a price on the risen Savior head, by selling his word. It is truthful church, Bibles, and scripture material like Sunday school lessons, devotions all need money to provide copies and such. The work of the church is to share the good news. The food pantries, and other things are often the attraction to get people through the first door and hopefully into the sanctuary.
There is emergency going on. Noah heard the screams of lost souls, Lot's wife turn to salt because of what she saw and because she disobey God. Cain refuse to listen to God, Pharaoh believed God but his heart continue to harden and even harden after Israel left Egypt that he came running after them to bring them back to the land of Egypt. Smokey and the Bandit running through the desert and the bandits of faith, the Israelites, escaped, but the government was caught by God. Where are we in sharing Jesus with other. I be honest I do not always share Christ everywhere I go. I do when a door of conversation is open. How often do we pray for that open door to witness. God will open if you ask, and provide what you need to answer if you ask him to equip you, because you are on a rescue mission to help
see that the lost are saved too. And your enemy, that person you do not like might become your friend. I watching my two cats wrestle this morning, and the kitten saying big cat you going to be my friend, I going to make you, and he saying go away. Those that hate you maybe the ones that need your help the most. However you need God's Spirit to guide you.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for giving your spirit to equip your children with tools and gifts of your Spirit to use as they learn how to be apart of your rescue team. Thank you for your Spirit, who is the one that going to be the teacher in the process. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 KJV
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
