Those Made Perfect Through Suffering
10/31/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Hebrews 11:33-40 KJV
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

I have to stop every so often and grasp the real meaning of the word perfect, imperfect and suffering. I do not care what you join or what you are a part of someone going to make fun of you for some reason. I remember seen a group once dressed in their little uniforms for their group and almost died laughing, not meaning to or trying not to be disrespectful, but it just could not be helped. We all have the moments in life we know we just should not of even smirked but we just could not help the situation in the least. Not desiring to be mean or cruel but it happens. It trying to control the emotion of our own reaction.

I got to think on the time of Isaac late last night or night before not sure, and how his father Abraham took him to altar because God told him too, and then God provided the sacrifice. There is a difference between giving up something we consider precious for faith in God only for God to grant it back to us, and sacrificing and taking up our own cross to follow Jesus to the realm of persecution Jesus experienced. We all beome mockers of something but hopefully not faith. I was watching on the news where a teacher was attacked for speaking against Mohammed. Now Mohammed is a leader of Islam people, he is not God or Jesus, he was however very controlling of his people, in regards of religious legalism. Now the teacher mocked a dead man and he was killed for his mocking. How then is Christianity different then Islamic extremist, we sacrifice for our faith by allowing others to mock, abuse, beat,murder and so forth for the sake of Christ ito share Christ love, forgiveness and our hope with others. We do not go and defend Christ with swords, guns or knives. We do not seek revenge when someone persecutes our Lord. We believe God has ability to revenge evil done to hurt those of faith in him.

Now if the event of the teacher in France had been in America our governing laws would of been he murder Islamic would pay the price for his crime. The mocking itself would not be vindicated unless it caused some type of mental anguish and it could be proven to cause some type of verbal abuse. Why do I talk about this type of abuse, mocking is not a crime, after all how many comedians would go to jail for their mocking of certain things in society and people jobs and so forth. No one feels threaten by comedian only maybe degraded if his intentions is not to find humor in life situations, but desire to cause destruction.

There are those in faith that have stood up to governments that tried to destroy their faith, through persecution, like Rome, throwing some believers into the lion's den, burning others at the stake, crucifixion, beatings, and so forth. Those that have tired to stop others from speaking about Christ are consider persecutors of the faith. There those that have tried to stop the spread of Christianity. Mocking of faith hurts no one, but violence can. Christians have to guard themselves to know the difference of being the abuser, the persecutor and the destroy of others rights. Christians do not in general go around killing people, but are not afraid to stand up for their God given right of faith to worship God. We do not kill people for making fun of us. We say sticks and stones make my bones but names will never hurt me or my Jesus.

Christ goes to the cross, in persecution of who he is, not for any crime he performed, but his authority of claiming to be equal to God and God's Son. Not only to the cross, but he was killed by the mob though the mob laid no hands on him, They pressured the government to execute him. God is able to defend himself but he allow his Son to go to the cross, because death could not hold him in the tomb, he would rise again, and not only rise again but he beat the devil who tried to tell the world there was no way God could forgive, Jesus hung on the cross forgiving. Jesus hung on the cross and rose forgiving the world, for he continue teaching his disciples despite the grave and the resurrection. Forty days later after showing mercy to his disciples and friends he departed up into heaven.

God can defend himself, God needs not a defencer only one's willing to follow and carry their cross of forgiveness and mercy to others, showing others God's grace. Others seeing the cross of Jesus first hand in the live of Mayrtrers, other joined and received Christ as Lord, despite the cost of suffering for the sake of Christ. They seen the compassion of the people being persecuted, they seen the testimony of the saints and knew God was real.

Christ came to suffer and die, despite the love he showed and expressed to the people. He was willing to die for the price of our sin, of killing Him. Our imperfection taking Christ to the cross, because one no one believe who he was and two God's will allowed him to be sacrificed for humanity to live in what they thought was peace and safety and was not. God's people meet together and worshipped Jesus, and lost their life for their peaceful ways. Yet their humanity, did not raise them from the grave, but they had the hope of eternity with Christ, the hope of eternal faith through Christ Jesus, who worked is in all perfection, to demonstrate the love and mercy of God.

Some were tried by fire never receiving the hope they thought through the cross the bore in the since of life here, but face death with eternity and everlasting life before them in the New Jerusalem, that will come down from heaven above. There men and woman that throw the lions den and fiery furance and say Daniel, Shadrach, Meshrach and Abedinego survived, but what was the purpose to lead king in the knowledge of faith in God, a king that worship other gods/idols. A protection for God's people. There is instant where Paul stands up after being stone and left for dead. Why not all, because it not God's will, beause people seek the miracle and not him, It like let see how many times does a person have to rise again. The cat with nine lives attitude. Instead of releasing they continue to torment not understand the saints of God are human beings with human fralities. When Christ returns he will prove his ability to raise the dead. He will show the world who he is, basically all we can show someone is the work God is doing in our own life. The freedom, the grace we have for one another, and the hope that continues in our life.

We take up our cross because of the ignorance of others, and face the persecution of ignorance and pride. I might be able to forgive you but Christ is the only one that can die for your sins, and forgive you of your sins, because those are the trespasses against God and not man. The mockery of believers will not stop Christ from being glorified or Christ name having power. For Christ came to become captain of our very soul to all that trust in him. If you have to defend your faith, your God, then you have to ask what power does this God of yours have. Just be obedient to God's word and not to the reaction of others and what they might do to you. Let God defend himself and you just hold his hand, allowing what ever comes your way be for the sake of faith, hope and love.

Dear Heavenly Father, teach us to be merciful to those that persecute us over faith, to show love and to teach hope. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Hebrews 2:8-15 KJV
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
