Good To Study
11/8/2019

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Ecclesiastes 12:8-14 KJV
8 Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.
9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

The one with education is one that is bright and knowledgable of his field of study. No matter the field the more knowledgable one is can be based on whether or not one knows how to use what he learns. You can have all the brain knowledge and lack common sense or the ability to know how to use it. Yet those that are brainy have a purpose as well. Even if they understand the process of something and can not do it, they often able to instruct another if someone takes the time to listen to individual that is brainy. The knowledge is no earthly good to anyone unless it can be used some how. All the knowledge in the cyberspace and in the world has no value if it can not be used for practical purpose. Just like studying anything else God's word study to extreme and not used has no value except to gorge your mind on the meat and milk of the word to a point your overflowing with knowledge but have no common sense on how to use what you have learned.

Ministers prepare a message all week hopefully to fill the appetite of the listeners that desire to know more about God's word. In truth we all need to study God's word, but ministers duty is to prepare a message to instruct, encourage, and instill sound information about who God is and God's desire for each of us. He has a goaled to help the believer in the pathway toward God. He is to make the message clear that God speaking to his heart as he leads his congregation. Yet he also has to give a message that will defeat sin and not build sin up. Instead building up truth of who God is and His desire for us.

Now the author of Ecclesiastes is pointing out that words should be receivable/acceptable and true. The word should be able to be repeatable and fasten to our soul. In other words you know all those movie lines you can repeat, the word of God should be more memorable in your head. Fasten by nails by the Holy Spirit to your heart. If you want to go a step further once Ecclesisates is written in the Old Testament and not the New Testament before Christ, the spikes of the word of God need to driven to the heart of man nailed by the Holy Spirit. In truth when it time for ministry the word of God should flow from the lips of the speaker. Our minds are like a computer but it designed by God, and our recall of God's word needs to be improved to show ouselves approved by God. Yet one can memorize scripture but not knowing how to use it to take what is memorize to aid one in skill of teaching or sharing has no value beyond the word itself. It needs to be taken to the heart and applied to one's life, so application comes alive when reshared with another or a group of people. How is God changing you? How Has He helped you in the past to change, to grow to learn. Application is often found through stories both truth and lies to drive a point across. Yet the truth is more believable then a lie. Because truth is a reality of what others might be dealing with too. Truth of the matter we all put our shoes and socks on the same way. Though situations are often different, the lessons of faith can be applied to first seek God and His wisdom in all things and obey His commandments of loving God first and others second. To obey those commandments that represent love called the ten commandments, yet love only sums up ten commandments, love is greater then those ten commandments but it is a threshold of ten that teaches us how to love God and to love others as ourselves.

Truth when studying we need to seek out truth of every matter and not the gossip of the world. The lie of Hymenaeus and Philetus of the resurrection has past already has caused some to fall away from faith at the time the letter to Timothy and church of Thesslonians, but resurrection had not happened that the believers today wait for. God's word is the foundation of faith and is needed daily in our life, but to do nothing but study it causes our bodies to be weak and our mind to be full of things we know not how to apply. We have a duty to work to uses our hands and to show we learned how to uses skills in life for provision of our own needs and wants. Paul was a tent maker by trade that wrote both the letters to Timothy, a minister of faith and who was like son, and to the Thessolanian church. The idea of reading constantly the word of God can be nice thought to spend that much time daily with God but it will not put meat on the table or clothes on one's back. There plenty of poor ministers that could find a skill to put their hands to work even if it is only a few hours. Why work if the congregation is feeding and supplying through your salary, one it gives your mind a rest from the daily work of preparation and two it helps to labor with others, to be reminded not to run those sermons for hours unless God directs. In truth work is good for the soul too. Yet the word is needed for a healthy soul.

The minister in Ecclesiastes was a good minister that spoke the proverbs but also spoke the duty of man to follow and obey one God. Allow God to be your first fastener in the nailing of his word to the heart, and not man, second allow Christ word to penetrate the heart and the Holy Spirit to correct the heart of sin, by God's demonstration of his love for each us in our time of weakness and struggle. Carrying the hope of the resurrection that Christ is returning for His people. And to remember he is coming back to take the believers home one day, when the trumpet sounds. It will be a glorious day for the believers of faith.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you nailing your word to my heart. Please move in my life that I can live a life pleasing to you following your word in application and in truth, to know your word is sound advice and truth for our daily life, that not just what one person speaks from a pulpit, but applicable for our life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: 2 Timothy 2:14-19 KJV
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

1 Thessolonians 4:11-18 KJV
11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
