I Can Do All Through Christ

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Philippians 4:4-13 KJV
(4) Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
(5) Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
(6) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
(7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
(8) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
(9) Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
(10) But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
(11) Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
(12) I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
(13) I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

I can do all things through Christ which Strengtheneth me. Is the last verse of this scripture passage. Yet have you even truly thought on these words what it means. Let me prove what it truly means. God told Noah to build an ark. It took hundred years to build. Hundred years is a long time if one thinks about it. Yet God told Noah to build it. Noah did not seem to question God but begins to build it. However the human instinct did Noah ever say Lord you gave me the measurements, but this is going to be awhile before it finished. The point being Godís word said build, it was not questioned. If God by His word and Spirit says you can why doubt it. Jonah was swallowed by a fish because he doubt God ability to save Nineveh. Elijah ran from God only for God to use it to teach Elijah of his power and might to conquer the enemy. Moses lead people to the promise land obeying God and one error of disobedience that cost him the promise land.

If we obey God we can do all things through Christ who strengthens his followers. Let me go back again for a moment, if God says yes you can why question it? If God is powerful why doubt those words. It has to do with being content in every circumstances you find yourself in. If you break a leg are you content to deal with pain and swelling that comes with it. Are you willing to be hungry when those around you are too. Are you willing to rejoice when God provides a bowl of beans, or rice? Maybe it is a crust of bread. What about the turkey dinner? God provision is by His word. Pain of hunger will not kill most people unless it is health issue, for a period of time. To be content in the storms of life, takes the power of God. The last storm I had to go through had to deal with my husband having surgery. I will be honest I did not think I had the strength to deal with such a simple procedure. Yet it was getting to the operating table and three month road of trying to figure what was causing the pain that was an issue. I could do nothing but prayer, and it did not seem like a solution at times. Yet it is the only solution that works. We are to make our request known to God and to pray. To pray for help or healing has nothing to do with contentment. It is accepting that what is going in your life is for Godís purpose and not your own. To be content in Godís purpose and plan, despite the cost. For Christ suffered much more for Godís purpose by taking the weight of the world on his shoulders on the cross of Calvary by dying for all manís sin. To realize that pain and misery is not necessarily avoidable but better days will come.

I can do all things through Christ means to be content by His word. To be content by His promises. To be content in the way God is known to bless and can and will bless you if you believe and obey Him. Naaman obey God by dunking in the Jordan seven times for healing of His leprosy and he came up healed. He did not have the faith, but he obeyed anyway. With obedience came the faith when the miracle happened. To be content is to obey whatever God tells you to do. God tells us to prayer, then prayer. If God says build, build. If God says go, Go. Learning if God says it possible do not doubt it is possible. If Christ speaks to your heart it is possible. If the Spirit moves you into action better follow. God has a map for your life, and no reason you can not dream big and do big things if it is in the will of God. If it is Godís will it will never be in your strength, but Godís. God does the impossible to prove his power.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for big dreams in life. Give us the hope we need and the contentment of knowing everything works for good to those that love you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Countdown To Thanksgiving 7 Days left: Thank God for his strength to make all things possible.

(4) And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
(5) Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
