Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

Matthew 16:5-12 KJV
(5) And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
(6) Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
(7) And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
(8) Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
(9) Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
(10) Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
(11) How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
(12) Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Can you second guess what someone else is thinking? Only if you are like minded on a certain subject or action. Yet failure to miss a clue can lead one to a path of destruction or mistakes. Watching a special unit of military do some exercises that would either allow there men to stay in a special taskforce or to drop out. The training is extreme and many drop out to do something else. The first leg of the training seemed simple enough. Walking a high beam and then sliding down a wire and dropping into some freezing cold water. If a soldier is afraid of heights he will never get past the first level, and if the height does not get you the balancing act of climbing a few steps that is on the beam is something that cause grown men to cry. As I watched I wonder why this task was so difficult. To me it seemed like a mind over matter type of thing. Yet I afraid of heights myself, and my balance was never any good. Yet caused many to drop out before they even got to climb the ladder toward the beam.

The walk of faith with Jesus is not for chickens, it is not for people who will drop out before getting through the first leg of the journey. What then can we expect as we learn to walk the balance beam of faith, and climb the highest mountains to the top to see the view God is allowing us to see, with the fog clearing. The disciples though they had spent many days with Jesus, sometimes just did not understand Jesusí words. All through the journey with Jesus there was bread, whether physical or spiritual was hard for disciples to understand. They thought that the bread Jesus talked about was about physical need of bread, missing the warning of the Pharisees bread. When one train for a special task force one better understand those he/she are working with. If you can not comprehend the meaning it could cost one their life. Jesus perceives the disciples were thinking physical bread. Quickly reminds them of his provision for the five thousand and four thousand, which both had leftovers of bread. Disciples then understood he was talking about false teachings of the Pharisees.

Teachers that teach false doctrines or work in doctrines that only meet their agenda and not Godís. One needs to be aware of what is Godís and what is manís doctrine. The things that creep into the church world, are still things that were struggled against at the time of Christ. Which is more important Godís word, or manís? Which bread is important the one Jesus can provide or the one you can buy?

There is plenty of bread for the hungry, but not for those seeking the fallacy of hypocrisy in leaders. Are you looking for Godís word or are you looking for mistakes. Even the devil knows Godís word and knows which ones are not of God. Consider why you search through the word to gain the bread, or the leaven of Pharisees. In truth without the ability to keep oneís eyes on the bread of life, one will find themselves with much leaven. A road easier travel but it leads to straight to hell. If you keep focused on Jesus, that balance beam is easy to climb up to and cross. Loose focus and you find yourself fearful and unable to take the next step across the beam. Learn to listen to what Jesus is saying or you find your spiritual life destroyed by the leaven of the religious world.

Dear Heavenly Father may your word grow in the heart of every believer. May those seeking only fallacy soon find the power of your word to penetrate their hearts and to change it. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
