Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Genesis 3:1-8 KJV
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Genesis 3:21 KJV
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

In our world today many pet owners like to put clothes on their pets, begining perhaps with a winter coat after shaving the poor dog. It curiousity did they think they sinned against their best friend when the shock came to their shaven bodies, perhaps, or perhaps the need of their own outwear reminded them why God gave animal fur in the first place. Once they dedogified the dog, it only makes sense to dress him in whatever outfits seems to fit occassion especially when it is chilly. Yet once inside the outwear comes off and the animal warms himself by the nearest heater.

Now the story of Adam and Eve begins with God breathing life into Adam nostrils in Genesis 2, being born of both God's spirit and dust of the earth/that would be our flesh. Eve in Gensis 2 was created from Adam's rib in heaven where Adam was naming all the animals and could not find a mate. God formed Adam into flesh and blood and then gave him part of his Spirit. Breathing life into man. The part that is the image of God is Adam's Spirit. Adam wearing both the out garment of the body and inner body the soul that is created by God.

Adam in oneway had not made a choice to obey God before being placed in the garden, yet he be born of spirit of God in order to live, to have life. God seems through out scripture to give man only a portion of himself to man. The first portion might not seem so important but it gives us human fleshly life to live in Eden, in regards the ability to live. The second time God gives man his Spirit for a purpose to perform the will of God(sample King Saul and David), with or without obedience to God and then also seal/mark man with his Spirit upon purchase possession of our soul from sin for salvation.

The minute man sins he has chosen the path of disobedience to God and the first sin immediately made Adam and Eve naked before God. The Layer of clothing pealed away which was the layer of righteousness God had originally clothed man with. Yet with the first sin the righteousness of God was peeled away. They were shaved bear by their sin. It as if they got totally clipped, and now they need to find away to restore their righteousness with outer garment. They made themselves some apron from fig tree, but it was not God's covering.

After God corrected and punished Adam and Eve, he made them coat out of skins and clothed them. He gave them what their purity back, no, he gave them his clothing of belief back before sending them out of the garden of Eden. God's covering, covers our sin, meaning belief in his word. Outcasting Adam and Eve from their home, and was given the protection from their nakeness.

We all become naked before God when we sin, yet the minute we sin we understand we did wrong, whether we admit it or not. Cain was warned of sin, and still sinned and God did not cover him but marked him for his protection. Cain more like the serpent, who was not given a new coat for his role in deceiving Eve, but was cursed, forced to crawl in the dust and to eat dust. Cain mark only protected him from other human life, keep him from being killed as he had done to Abel his brother and removed from the sight of God forever.

Adam and Eve were given coats a covering for the nudity, much like people cover their pets to give them some protection from the elements of this world. The coat that God gave them was not the coat of righteousnes that gave them eternal life. It was a coat of death and knowledge to believe God, and this would cover their nakness before God, but they would still die to their sin in the flesh, without the hope of eternal life. Yet they still had life to live. Not til the second generation from Adam did Seth's son Enos, did man began to call upon God. Eve recognized her children were a gift from God with the first birth of her son. She would be known as the mother of all living, not the mother of the dead in Genesis 3:20 KJV. Did Eve have hope? OUr flesh would die but our Spirit continues, either in hell or in paradise. Our flesh would die either way, and our spirit either faces eternal lake of fire or eternal life with God.

Eve is the mother of all living she is the mother of dead She can not mother anyone that has died, but is that all human life? NO, it is because she praise God when she gave birth to Cain. She recognized God participation in all life given. If you remember in the New Testament it says Adam was made a living Soul and the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.(I Corinthians 15:45) and Those who followed Adam died to sin, but those that follow Christ were made alive. Now you have both male and female, and Seth's Son Enos follow his mother in worshipping God. (4:25 KJV). This is speaking of a spiritual transformation for only a believer can worship God in spirit and in truth.(John 4:24)

We got two tribes raising up on earth and that those that worship God and those who did not. Cain would go his own way, Enos would worship God. Adam he worshipped his wife Eve and Eve adored her husband, because that was the will of God in the correction of Adam and Eve. Sin itself came through Adam who the very rule about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was given. Yet both Adam and Eve were responsible, Adam is probably used in scripture in other places especially New Testament to depict the first human race the beginning of sin. No again, because Roman 5:14 is talking about the sin of man from Adam to Moses. Where sin is giving the law of God, to obey. Adam being the humanity that knew not sin beyond correction of God. God continued to correct man without the law until the time of Moses, even outcasting others like he did Cain. Yet in Genesis 5 we find Enoch walked with God and he was translated into heaven. Man having always the hope of salvation, but not always the garment of salvation upon them. The knowledge of sacrifice was known at the time of Cain and Abel, so Adam and Eve must of had some knowledge of pleasing God. Sacrificial knowledge for sin must of come before the law of God to Moses, but the law was recorded, writen down and even worn on Israel's arm in a little case to remind them not to sin.

Did this generation go without hope of eternal life as believed, or was Adam more then corruptible flesh. His choice made with his sin, of the destination of soul. No sign of repentance, but knowledge of Eve choice is given with the worship of God. Her flesh tasting death, but did her soul? Did her inner being as she recognized God with the fleshly birth of Cain?

The decision of loss of eternal life was made in the garden by God, what changed? Hope and promise of eternal life given from the first lamb sacrifice and the aroma melted the heart of God. No God was removing the sin from being in the garden forever and ever, he was removing them to a place they could make a choice to believe God or the serpent. He wanted them to choose him, but it began with smell of roasting pot. After the flood Noah still built an altar to the Lord. We know if that smell effect God then what did it do when Eve cooked and Abel built altar to the Lord and so forth.

God was already creating the road of forgiveness through the altar to the cross. If we can understand the flesh is only a cloak over the spirit, that the cloak in heaven is incorruptible body, one without blemish or spot. If we can only see the cloak in heaven with the marks of faith. Then we know that God plan of salvation was from the beginning to redeem the people from the world we live in. Some to life without death and others still facing death in the body, but not the Spirit. Yet our soul dies with the denial of God only to be resurrected in the second resurrection to face eternal lake of fire. The first resurrection for all those that believe, spirit has eternal life with God and those dying in faith already are with him, and those alive be taken up to meet Jesus in the sky when Christ returns. To be absent is to present with the Lord, Roman 8: forget the verse number) Good look up for you today.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your grace and your hope of eternal life from Adam to even now, because of your promise salvation plan. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

3 When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.
4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
