Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; 3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.
And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.
But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.
Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. How many days do we wait for deliverance is determined by God. Our deliverance is never by our own hand in the since of act of God. Deliverance of finances, situations, and other things can also come from ourselves with sources that we have, but is that not still act of God to give us the mind to enact deliverance. I know my own deliverance of chronic pain was 14 years. To me that is a life time in itself. A lifetime of sorrow, hurt, and even sometime sin, because of anger alone. How long had the man been crippled that sat at the gate called Beautiful we do not know. However his day of deliverance came when Peter and John said money I have none, but in the name of Jesus of Nazareth stand up and walk. Peter taking his hand raise the man up and his ankles and feet immediately were strengthen. That when the man began to leap and rejoice even entering in to the temple to praise God. The man jumping and rejoicing stirring up a crowd. A crowd that knew the man had sat there at the gate begging for many years. It was not a staged event, or a fake healing, it was a real healing. This man was deliverance. And Peter began to preach deliverance from sin to the people by telling them about Jesus and his cross he bore for our sins. He preach deliverance from sin through repentance, and that Israel would no longer be separated from God when the time of restitution of all things. Through the resurrection he turn everyone from their sin.
Peter also told how they had believed the prophets and now they needed to believe that God sent his only begotten Son Jesus to bless them and that his crucifixion was to bring peace and life to them because of the resurrection. All deliverance brings a since of peace and hope. All deliverance is meant to strengthen the cause of faith. Can you imagine feeling the muscles grow strong in your legs and you could walk again. The joy and exuberance you would feel at just the very thought.
Yet healing is only one form of deliverance, being removed from bondage is a second type of healing. The bondage called sin, is yoked around our necks from birth. Yet upon new birth received by believing on Jesus removes the sin of bondage, and will bring about repentance upon receiving of His word of life. Moses when he delivered the people out of Egypt it was not done by his hand but the hand of God. The deliverance he brought the people was freedom from King Pharaoh who were mean to Israel. God calles them to eat unleaven bread on the road of faith. The bread a symbol of life as well as in the furture the body of Christ. Bread a symbol of the journey of no time to put yeast in the bread. To lets remove you out of this pagan land, to now a road of God being among his people to bring about deliverance from bondage.
Now to be set free you want to talk to your deliver you would think, but Israel to scared to talk to God after all they witness. The fear of God is upon them. Yet God was delivering them. Imagine an arm force coming into land and freeing the people only for the people to be scared of those taking over. Not understanding this army came to set them free from bondage. Will God is a one handed army all by himself, but he also has angels that helps him deliver those in bondage. God used Peter and John arms to lift the man up to his feet, to bring about that faith. God used Moses and Aaron to bring about the hope of being set free from bondage through the plagues set upon Egypt and they were not effected by these plagues.
Here is the point are we going to receive the hope and deliverance offered by Christ Jesus or is the sight of the cross that is keeping you away. No one else can take away your sin. No one can die for your sin that separates you from God. See When man sin in the garden it cause the beginning of the separation, but it did not end there. Then God cast man out of the garden. If a man divorces his wife only to take her back and remarry her, he desire her companionship, and the thing that cause the seperation was either fixed, or paid for in some way. Christ paid for that divorce. He paid for it because he loved us and desired to have a relationship with man, despite our sin. God is holy and because of his holiness our sin must be covered, or removed by His power and word. We in ourselves can not hide, cover or remove our sin that separates us from God. God remarry's us through forgiveness of sin through the price Christ paid for us. We are his bride the bride of the Lamb. Who are those left after the time of Christ resurrection but those Jews of unbelief, those blinded by faith in God, and those elected to testify of Christ resurrection and the eternal hope of salvation. God's bride has been reunited, but Christ bride is yet to be reunited in heaven, but will be. The bride will be living in the New Jerusalem that comes down from heaven.
We may want deliverance from this old world from time to time, but deliverance will always come in God's timing and not ours. What that means is God spares our life to be a witness for Him, His Son and the Holy Spirit. God is continuing to spare his people and deliver his people that truly believe. The witness of the believer is sacred to God. We are called to holiness, let us walk in Christ ways.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us hope of deliverance through faith in you, your Son and Holy Spirit, because Christ paid the price for our deliverance from sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
