1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning. Who is speaking in this chapter is Jesus. This is one of the final messages to his disciples recorded in John before the crucifixion. Jesus is the true vine and my Father is the husbandman he speaking of God the Father being the gardener. Jesus being the vine is the Word/Christ in the flesh. Why take note on the vine is when John begins the book of John he explains the word in the flesh was the one that came to tell the people and show the people how to live. God the Father see if the word abides in us. How does it abide, in his love and when we show forth love. Now no one lives perfectly, we all get angry, and loose our temper, especially after a long day or week. How is our action in general. To abide in God's word is not always constantly reading God's word. The Bible as we know today did not exist except for Old Testament scrolls. The New Testament had not been recorded yet. To abide in God's word and to abide in Christ is to abide in the knowledge of God's word and to obey it. Obedience can be solely by the Holy Spirit, and by confirmation of God's word through (Bible scripture). There many times we believe not on God's word and we mediatate on it for years on whether the word be true. The Spirit of God speaks to our hearts and we know from Acts 1:1-2 that Jesus being today in heaven gives the Spirit instruction for going forth to the Apostles and the church.
If you take egg apart it has three different parts and you put it together it one egg. If you take one of those ceramic that have identical imaginery inside of it but only slightly smaller that would be each part of the God head. Each part the same but each part within each other. Almost like looking at indentical triplets. God the Father being in Christ by authority and the Holy Spirit being in Christ by power. The word/Christ being in God with authority, Holy Spirit being in God with power. The Spirit by himself is person in the since He carries the word forth with power and authority of God to the believer. When we abide in the vine we are not God or Christ. We are like a plant that been graffed into the vine. To be graffed is taking a stem from an another plant and attaching it to see if it will produce within the vine, if it does not it is cut away. The old timers use to nails, and other objects in a tree for different reason and uses. Often never removing them. They would serve their purpose for whoever attached it to the tree. Many years later when the tree is saw up for kindling those things would be found. When we receive Christ as Lord and we abide in God's love we are placed in the vine for a purpose. Once place or grafted into the vine we are to bring forth fruit unto redemption.
If you take in a child through fostercare you there to be nurturing care giver and to help the child become full responsible adults. He/ she is never you but they often mimick the love of their foster parent because they are being taught the love that their foster mom and dad's were taught. Can we show the love of God that God has shown us by giving of his Son for you and I, on our own. The answer is no. There will be in most people life something that will hold them back from loving as Christ loved and forgave them.
In case of abuse love continues for a time, but the point when love stops is when it comes to near death, tragedy to their will being. Love may still continue in an adult/child but it may not remain. At some point you may have to cut your losses. Hell is the place God turns unproductive fruit too. The unproductive fruit is like being plugged into a wall shocked and the lamp just does produce any light, so you unplug it and repair/throw it away. All people that produces darkeness and evil is cast away. It is about those hearing the word sitting on pews taking it all in only to go outside and live like the devil.
God never planned for us to hear his word and not to produce fruit of love, hope, faith, longsuffering, gentleness, kindness, peace and so forth. When one shares love it does not mean love is given back. It does not mean one will receive your help. I can give a friend twenty dollars but it does not mean it will be received. A guy can give a dozen roses but it does not mean the girl will be delighted when she sees them. Our job is to love, but sometimes we can not love anymore, and then we find that extra help if we ask to love once more by God's Spirit when the memory of cross comes. Jesus laid his life down for us and died for our sins and we are then resurrected by the power of God to love once more. He promised his love upon the cross when Christ said Father forgive them for they know not what they do. Essential to forgive to close the blind eye of the cruelty of the world and to continue to love the people of this world despite the grossness of their sin.
How many of us do for someone that hurts us. Sometimes being more forgiving then perhaps we should at times. Sometimes love is showing someone their own cruelty. Jesus does through his cross and resurrection He was returning, but some of us will not have eternal life because we refuse to repent and obey God's word and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
God has called us out of the world, to grow in him. Most of us being in isolation with cornavirus probably feel very called out from the world. Some isolated to total loneliness for two weeks and others to isolation for life time due to disability and illness. Others are isolated from the word of God because they refuse to hear it. Yet that never stop God from leading a people. Hebrew people after the plagues were terrified of God and so allowed Moses to be their intercessor. He along with Aarron and his sister lead the congregation. Yet when people needed laws to settle things they came to Moses for guidance and laws and judgments were established.
We may be the only link to God for some people for they refuse to hear God or to even listen. If they refuse scripture then we need to just love. Love does have judgment with it sometimes but not without mercy. God turns the other cheek. And we are to do so likewise, but there is time and a place where either we allow God's judgment to kill or we rescue by demostrating human correction that may or may not work. The first thing is the wall must be torn down, that comes with friendship, just being there. Finding the hurt that caused the problem in the first place. Tearing down the emotion baggage the cause the problem in one life that prevents them from loving God back, or his people. Sometimes they find that the reason is justifiable. Yet stranger then fiction sometimes people find they are really on the same team loving back and mending wounds. Churches split because of problems, but the church can only heal if we figure out the issue and mend it. If it can be mended then it by God's grace.
God's been mending the world from sin for centuries, giving each generation to begin the cycle again. We love, we share and we give hope to the lost. If that all we do let us do it with the hope of God's word.
Dear Heavenly Father help us to abide in you to bring forth the fruit of love, faith and hope by your Spirit, through forgiveness through the price Christ paid on the cross for our sin, In Jesus precious name, Amen.
