Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. I have talked about Judas being the son of perdition, or the son of the antichrist before, and I talked about the cross of enemy here recently. Sin will take you further then you ever wanted to go and the author of sin will try and keep his clutches in you to the point there is nothing left of you if you well let him. The son of perdition is the one doomed because of his cross he had to bear for our Lord Jesus. He was called to be the betrayer. Christ prayed even for the son of perdition, but he states he knows he already lost but perhaps not without hope. Judas would betray Jesus, but Judas also found himself in the depths of remorse for his actions. Is one chance of repentance would be lost when he hangs himself(Matthew 27) and in one gospel it says he fell down and his inside gushed out.(Acts 1) One way of studying scripture is learn areas things are in to make it easier to return to if you have trouble with the exact verse. Gave you two chapter references to help you with today's lesson.
Judas is the son of perdition and though he sought for forgiveness, he knew not the one that could forgive. He knew not the one that could deliver him though he spent three years with him. He knew that Christ would arise from the dead. We have a choice Christ is going to return to us one day on this earth, we can be ready or face the judgment as sons and daughters of Satan in total option to God. What is option to God, to choose obedience to the devil, or oneself or any other beside God. To choose alliance to anyone other then God. Now as far laws of our land go, it does not mean we live in disobedience to them, it means we allow God sovereignty to reign above the government like in the case of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshshach, and Abednego. We make a choice like Mordecai to not bow to someone that exalts himself as a god. Not to bend but knock them down. We choose hummility, prayer and fasting instead of exaltation.
If we as believers belive Christ is returning, he is our hope and our future. What holds us to our faith but Christ himself, through faith in his word. I talked about the anti christ and deception and that is how we know who the antichrist is. We also listen to the spirit of God. Even the devil knows who is God's. Beware the enemy like to ensnare you, trap you and make you look like a fool for Jesus. Do not worry trust, follow and walk after Christ and the Holy. Obeying all that both teach of God the Father and each other. Can we trust God to help the laws of our land be in tune with God, not always, but we can trust that God's freedom allows us to stand on his word in the presence of our enemies even with persecution of the antichrist, as Christ hung on the cross because of Satan desire to destroy him, but he could not. Christ dies for our sin, for the sin of the world. He came to redeeom us. Will you receive his hope and grace today through believing, turning and repenting of sin.
Dear Heavenly Father give us the grace to stand firm in faith, knowing you are the protector of our hearts. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
