31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.
32 This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
36 This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
37 Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
46 Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.
47 The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.
48 Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.
49 Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king. As we finish chapter 2 of Daniel today, I want to ask three quick question, has this come to pass, and are we still seeing this type of government in the world today. The third question is what is that everlasting kingdom spoken of in verse 44 of Daniel 2? The four kingdoms are Babylon, Assyrian/Persia, Greek and Roman. These four kingdoms would shape not only history but would continue with the take over of the German empire and so forth. Yet there was another kingdom that was still growing during these four kingdoms, and that is a spiritual kingdom of God's people, but God was also speaking of a spiritual kingdom that would be established after the rise of these four kingdoms and that would be Christianity. No religious order should be a threat to any governmental power, because spirituality of individuals have little to do with legalism/ laws of our world. Yet God established a base of laws through the children of Israel. Most of us can agree that we could not obey all the laws of the land. Yet all laws are established one based on society and two the ten laws of that declare the law to love God and others. Christ kingdom would establish the gentile nation under the spiritual law of God that was already established in the hearts of the Jewish people that obeyed him.
The kingdom to come after the four kingdoms is establishment of God that was already established, and it would come by the coming Messiah of the Jewish people. Now if we stop there we have to understand God's kingdom had already rotated in and out of the Gentile nation for centuries. It did not mean Gentile nation did not submit to God's kingdom, for in verse 46 of 2 chapter it said Daniel fell upon his face upon hearing the interpretation of his dream and what it was. We know the Babylon kingdom would utterly be destroyed one day, but that would happen when Christ returned it be cast into hell for eternity. The second kingdom being established for eternity of fire. That kingdom is made of iron, or shackles and chains with out mercy. For the covering of clay is not solid foundation, nor is it of gold, yet because of the iron it would last for eternity.
Armegadon the final battle has to do with eternity and not earthly war in the form of battle lines of the earth. Lines around the equator and back around again, but is a war of spiritual phenomenon, that excesses the inner man. We can understand spiritually on individual plain, but to speak of global spiritual desire for God on a global plain is something the world is still pretty hunger for even with the rise of Christianity since the time of Christ. Christians can not imagine a global worship when all Christian took the very same hour to worship God and to pray. The idea sounds nice, but in truth no one could get the entire world praising or praying at the same time until the appearance of Christ.
Watching Old Shirley Temple movie called the Little Princess, her dad and her had a time they would look at the star above and think of each other and know the other was doing the same. Nice sediments but not a reality in one since. The father knew it would help his little girl and that why he encouraged it. Christ encouraged fellowship, but he also knew there be times of disunity within the church world and not all would praise him in one accord. Though it is the strive of the church world, it is impossible to imagine that many voices in one accord until the coming of Christ. Some will perhaps stare in disbelief and if they could loose their salvation at that moment if possible, then that is when it would be.
The point is the church of the devil needs human contact and control of their people. God in his church only needs His Spirit within the heart of man upon the belief of Christ, to speak to each believer corporately and individually. If you ever seen God work, you know no human language is necessary every time. Yet the devil needs direct instruction every moment of the day. The four kingdoms arising allowed many religions of faith. That fact King Nebuchadnezzar prostrate himself before Daniel, he recognized Daniel's God was superiority. He did not think Daniel was a God, but believe Daniel God had power. King Nebuchadnezzar would give Daniel's friends and Daniel position in his palace. God's people having power in the devil's court. Think on it for a moment, in yesterday's passage the sorcers, astrologers and magicians were killed for not doing what Daniel did for King Nebuchadnezzar. The point being God's divine intervention, King Nebuchadnezzar desire for truth and Daniel desire to help King Nebuchadnezzar to know the God of Israel, set himself on a course of ability by the Holy Spirit and not destruction. Daniel took the spiritual war and drew his sword and the King fell to his feet and gave him gifts and power in his kingdom.
Psalms 145 declares God's kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and has dominion for all generation. The gentile nation had to learn this, and continue to learn about this kingdom of God and his mercy and grace through the message of the Gospel of Jesus, who would draw all people to him. To separate the Bible between Old and New we need to understand why God is establishing the New Covenant. It is to help them understand who this loving God is and that the message is for them as well as the Jewish people.
Dear Heavenly Father draw all people to you through your Messiah, the messenger of your truth to all nations, not just the Jewish people. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
