Alienated From God
06/27/2021

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Colossians 1:12-29 KJV
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:
25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

What use to alienate a believer in Christ no longer does and that is sin. I mentioned a little yesterday talking about King David and when he spoke in the Psalms 139 of where could one go from God's spirit. Main focus was on Cain's alienation from God, which is still different then a person that knows not God but wants to know God or alienated because lack of knowledge about God. Cain new God and even spoke with God. Satan was in the same trap as Cain in one regard that he new who God was and still acted as if he was God in regards to tempting Eve to eat the fruit.

The person without God is still capable of having faith in Christ Jesus and is not fully alientated from the ability to know God if desired, but is living to their own desires and will for their own life. The alienated is not the same as Cain or Satan, they have not made a choice in regards of who they will serve, they are just out living the life style of sin. The one alienated can be like the prodigal son, but usually is more of unlearned the ways of God. Two people the one that knows God and is backslidden or turn away from God for one reason or another and the one that knows not God and is living in sin, but needs to believe in God and Christ Jesus. These people are making choices not based on faith but their own desire, or promoted by their anger, rage and so forth at the ways of God.

I can remember when I first accept Christ I about six/seven and I was still learning to read. Will I would open my Bible and read the first verse of John 1:1, I did not make it to far into the book of John. No pictures perhaps and maybe just to long for a little girl, but the desire to know the Bible was there. Part of faith is knowing what scripture says. The other things is to know the difference between temptation that leads to sin, and to know that his does not please God. Now if someone at six would of told me I would be tempted I would of thought of Christ temptation by the devil and not a little girl or boy down the road tempting me to sin, to do something I was not suppose too. Nor would I understood about backslidding into sin, because knowledge of sin was finite at this point in my life, though I knew sin was anything that did not please God and probably my parents also, I still had a child mind of thinking. What the worse thing a kid does it go some where without permission and scare their parents perhaps. Yet most kids at six are not allowed to cross the road without someone watching unless in an area where traffic is not the norm.

What is my point when one gets older, being raised in the church and christian home, sin easily creeps in, not by wrong environment but because temptation of rebellion, temptation of sin of the generation before is present and not consider to be sin, and it causes the church world and individual to backslide from God. Until a minister address the sins of the church the church will either remain in their sin, or will read the word on their own and God will prick their heart. David sin had to be address by the Prophet Nathan. Saul's sin had to be corrected by Prophet Samuel, and the sin of Ahab as confronted by the Prophet Elijah but he cared not to be corrected by the Prophet God sent to him, so he died a horrible death and so did his wife Jezebel.

It is easier to see the sin of others then often our own, but there time we need to allow God to examine our hearts and to see if any sin is within the chambers of our heart and to removed it. Below in Ephesians 4, a posting of a particial chapters there are verse with known sins, do not know what a word is look it up. Take time to go through some of the list see if their is anything in your life that is known sin, then ask God to show you the unknown sin, or sins that maybe causing disruption in your relationship with him. As a believer we are sealed by the Holy Spirit and covered by the blood Christ. As a believer we do not want to continue in sin, but we want to allow God's word and/Christ to purge us from sin. For us to lay our sin and our burdens at the foot of the cross and allow Christ to bury it and raise us up to new life with him, To allow that sin not to fester and grow. For the non Christian and the non believer, consider the things God calls sin and ask why would these things be consider sin. Most things that are sin takes us directly in the opposite direction of God's will, life style and so forth.

As Christians we need to listen as God speaks to our heart and obey his voice. As a non believer a person really needs to give their heart to Christ, and turn from the things that are consider sin in one's life, and follow in the ways of Christ. His ways are good and Christ's protects us through eternity, and the Holy Spirit marks us as a child of God. God so love the whole world, not just a few people and he does not want you alienated from him. Yet he does separate himself from the sin of the world. For he die for our sins and rose again to victory. He wants to purify us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness/belief and the things we do that are wrong. He wants to purify us for the Father, are we willing to allow Christ to removing our sin and continue in our relationship with Christ as well as for first time believers to allow him to remove all sin today. It matters not what your sin is, today is your day to receive Christ forgiveness. And do not worry if you have more then one sin or a zillion sins, Christ came to die for you and to help you to live for him. Allow Christ to change your heart and renew your mind to a new ways of living.

These things are the beginning point of your relationship with Christ as you allow him to remove the sin out of one's life, he will change your life for His glory and honor. Knowing that Christ is the first born of the dead. He came back to life to show us he forgave us and then ascended into heaven.

Dear Heavnely Father, forgive us our sins as we ask your son to be Lord of our life and to remove all sin from our life and to make a new creation that will glorify you and continue to remove temptation and sin from our lie. We know upon receiving your Son for our salvation a free gift from you that we are sealed and marked for the day of redemption, when you come to take us home. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Ephesians 4:17-32 KJV
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
