Subject To God's Grace Alone 06/06/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisRomans 13:1-14 KJV
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
When our government is evil and refuses to obey their own law there is no love and there is no law. The government becomes corrupt and wicked by its own self righteousness by its own cliques in government that they care no more about the laws of the land. What can a person do, not a thing but turn to God. What can believer do but pray for evil nation, for evil land for corruption to be destroyed not by man, but by the authority of God. Meaning allowing God to tear and rip it apart to the point there is nothing left to be destroyed by God. In our nation our land as many watch how political powers have shifted and how one even chose to encourage not necessarily violence, but to demostrate what some would consider a small uprising in our land by crossing the line so to speak.
What if the corruption in your town, village, city, county or state what can you do, hope that things would change or show brotherly love despite the problem. If someone breaks the laws of God of do not commit adultery, do not to kill, do not steal and bear false witness, and covet thy neighbor wife or anything for that matter, and other commandments of God. Where is the line drawn for forgiveness and where is the line drawn for forgiveness, but casting one away like God cast Cain. Jesus never said anything about murder in regards of forgiveness. I wonder why. Is it the worse crime, he forgave the woman caught in adultery, the thief on the cross, the priest son Barabbas in the insurrection, he died for, but did Jesus forgive murder to the point he did not cast Barabbas from the ability to repent. God marked Cain but did Cain live for eternity in heaven, was there any forgiveness. Cain chose wickedness instead of the warning of God. God wish no harm upon Cain. What can we say, if a crime is committed in the presents of another, and that person choose to forgive but have nothing to do with that person is it still right. The priesthood in Jerusalem still sought to see all Christian persecuted. Rome seen it made the Jews happy. What course of action does one have but to pray. Pray that Roman either finds Christ or travel to a far away place. Christians have been on the move in the world for centuries and they seldom have a place of true rest.
This is where as a believer in Christ you pic up the cross that has called you to bear because there is no worldly angel that going to help you not even at the highest levels of the land. Not even a dog that can bite the enemies ankles. There is point as believers we often have to chose to forgive. Humanity normally would retailiate and the Mcoys against the Hatfields fight begins once more. Or in some cases gang violence, but Jesus also told his disciples to carry two swords. In others words fight when there is cause to fight, don't be a door mat to society. Exercise your rights and freedoms by the law you live in, unless the government so corrupt that it needs corrects and then it should be done first by the legal law, then you decide if the fight is truly worth it, and most time, it better to let God crumble the government.
Then do what God does when all else fails and mark them but refuse to help them because of there crime against Abel. Can a man be better then God on earth, I think not. What is forgiveable by man is decided by man on earth. If it possible does one ever trust, I do not know, but I know this, it may never be the same.
Dear Heavenly Father, may the reality of our own sin against others as well as sin against you be forever etched in our hearts, knowing you love is greater then man's often times. However when it came to Cain he was only protected against others hurting him. Help us to understand your forgiveness comes with the price of Christ sacrifice on the cross for our sins. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
