Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 Peter 3:12-22 KJV
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

It better to suffer for will doing. Yet are we willing to suffer for doing good, most people rather not suffer at all. Noah a man of righteousness, and eight family members were saved during the time of a flood. We do not know the where abouts of cousins, aunts, uncles of Noah, but we know only his children, their wives and their mother was saved along with Noah. It took faith for Noah to build an ark that did not seem necessary, nor did it seem possible. Yet Noah and his family had enough faith to build that ark and to climb aboad it with all the animals paired by two. Most of us only can imagine what that day was like when rain began to pour and not stop for forty days. When the time of God destruction came to the people of the world, with the warning that time had run out for those who had not believed Noah preaching, or his call that a storm would come. Yet what is every believer called to do but preach that Christ is coming and judgment will follow with his appearance.

It easy to be quiet never saying word, and never speaking the Gospel to friends and to family. It easy to type the words Jesus is coming soon, but is it loud enough for people to prepare themselves to be ready. How we be prepared by receiving Christ has Lord and Savior. Yet sometimes even those words seem to have a dimmer switch in place. Why because the words to receive something we can not see and believe a story that is of old, takes faith. It is that faith that we cling too the old rugged cross of Jesus, believing in the hope of God's promise that whosoever believeth in Jesus should not perish but have eternal life. John the Baptist even question those words of are you the Messiah or is there one to come. Faith being a struggle even to modern man. Our hope based on the evidence of faithful people before us and the hope they have despite the pain of faith can have for well doing. Some people mock and others laugh at our hope in Jesus. Other countries deal with death because of faith, and it happens here in the USA but it is often more quietly done then big pronouncement of faith.

There a point we hear the words destruction coming do we pile up and leave what we doing or does someone have to drag us to safety. When I think of the hurricane that was going to hit North Caroline Many piling up and left all and went in the cars out of the state of North Carolina. Reminded me of the great flood with warning, but no one did a thing to try and protect themselves and when it began to rain they could do was yell for help. We can be ready to meet Jesus, or we can be the ones yelling for mercy at first and cursing before final destruction. What is your answer today, do you receive Christ knowing judgment will come and God's love and mercy is extended to those with faith, or do you say oh know I either have time when I see Him coming, or I might have time when the plagues begin. No there is no time then, You only got today, or until the end of our life time. God only knows when Christ is returning. Do people not plan for a fire, with fire escape, do not people plan for a hurricane with boarding up of windows and sand bagging, do people not plan for earthquake by building buildings that can handle some shaking, and smart people plan for a flood by not building in a flood plane. Yet with all this prepareness, there is no guarantees you will survive a storm, but Jesus you have that guarantee to survive the plagues and judgment of the time God has set to ending the world as we know it, if you will trust in Jesus today. Preparation by receiving Jesus and waiting for his time of coming. That where it begins but then there time of confession of sin, and time of turning away from sin in one's life because of faith and love you have in Jesus. To baptized is an outward symbol of burying of sin and having of good conscience towards God and symbolize our own resurrection with Christ that we no along alive to sin but alive to obeying the truth.

Dear Heavenly Father, I receive Jessu the gift of salvation today, and ask you to prepare my heart to understand this faith I am receiving today. I ask you to show me the hope there is in Jesus and his protection through His cross. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Acts 8:35-38 KJV
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
