Just To Forgive
6/27/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 18:21-35 KJV
21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

How many times do you forgive your brother. I be honest, one learns forgiveness quickly when one is little if not you never get through a day of mistakes and failures. Has we get older and things arise in our life depending on the crime, Crime here meaning any wrong doing by another, not always a legal crime. Jesus began to talk about what a person owed in relationship to forgiveness. See when a wrong is committed then something needs to be repaid, not every time but in certain situations, some people just forgive and move on, but other sin needs to be repaid. You injure someone then repayment needs to be made. Now debit like a bill might take time and must be paid over time, and so an injury to someone may need to be paid over time. Yet are we willing to wait as our debtor wait for repayment of a bill. I had a bill that took more then ten years to pay, but I was consistent with that bill. When the debt was paid, then it was over.

Now other debit can not be waited upon and debtor demands money now not next week. We all had those bills. Yet payment of sin came through Christ Jesus, one debt paid by one gift of God. How much more when someone sins against us should we forgive, sometimes we pay the price of the pain someone causes us and just forgive, sometimes that the only choice we have. It that continual forgiveness that teaches love. Forgiveness with no correction can come at a price too. A drug addict never face the correction or realization of the issue of the drug can cause never learns not to do that again, and only causes more harm if it causes a crime to be committed once more.

It no longer about forgiveness, but love, and correction can be love. The do nothing attitude is not correction. Yet when an adult is at an age of a crime that is never corrected then it becomes sometimes into a worse offense. How does society correct with in the law and first with talking sometimes all that is needed. God never said to love and forgive without some form of correction. Yet corrections can be over rated as well. Have to know someone first to understand if their intent was harm in anyway. Sometimes that answer is no, then forgiveness is shown with mercy even to a stranger, but does it help. Definitely not. Sometimes stress of life cause ignorance of sin. Yet that no excuse.

Yet when confess our sin to Jesus, he is just to forgive us our sins. We learn from our mistakes as God teaches us about our sin by His Spirit. Society can not see the root of the sin, but Jesus can. He wants to dig that root up and throw it away so other sin is not committed. Take those hurts and remove them as well. As I removed the core of pineapple the other day after twisting off it top and removing the bottom, I found myself seeing that pineapple with a core needing removed so the fresh fruit of that pineapple could be enjoyed. There are things in our life that sometimes cause us not to be people of good tasting fruit without the core that shouldn't be eaten is removed. It like an apple with so many tiny seeds that must be removed before eating the apple. Apple alright to bite but once getting to the root it must be tossed out. God see the core and knows how big those seeds are that causing all the problems. When we allow God to remove that sin in our life, then other things work out. We need people to be prayer warriors in our life, and we need to be prayer warrior of faith in others life because of those issues that are unseeable. Let God and our laws be our corrector. For God is just to forgive our sins if we confess them and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

Dear Heavenly Father thank for forgiving of our sin, and help us to forgive others their sin when we can not see the root of the problem that caused that sin. Let us not be correcters of others, but the forgiver and prayer warriors of the problem. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 John 1:9-10 KJV
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
