Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 32:1-11 KJV
1 A Psalm of David, Maschil. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.
4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.
11 Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

In times of repentance God becomes like our hiding place, a place that is of protection. Christ blood covers us from our sins, he covers our initiquity and shields us from the wrath of God that could come. The sacrifice of praise comes on our lips with thanksgiving because of that repentance and knowing we are saved and hiden in the grace of God. King David sin came to place in his life that it was judged by God but not this soon into the praises of the Psalms recorded. There is a point, King David might of had unconfessed sin in his life, but he was still forgiven by God's grace, until that sin reach a new level of adultery, not just lusting after women and marrying many women. The adultery level came with a price, he lost his son by the woman he commit adultry with and he also almost lost his kingdom.

Yet here David found safety before that time, he seen the sheltering arms of the Lord when he confess and repented of them. Yet this was a unconfess David committed that cause him to be punished. How important is it for us to recognize our sin and repent of our sins. It important enough that it shared in scripture this King who seemed perfect in many ways, was not perfect in all his ways. In fact he learn there was conquences to his actions. In truth there is consequences to our action.

God's shelter arms is there but there is a time an a place God does correct us and we can not get out of his correction. Christ paid the price for all our sin, but God still corrects us. His correction is never what we can not bear but it is for a reason, to help us understand the load of sin that Christ has covered in our life. God is merciful and his compassion surrounds us, but there things God says no more concerning when it is sin, and God corrects us to the point that crime is no longer committed. David may of gained a few more wives after that but not through adultery.

Did David still believe in God's mercy afterwards. He knew God's correction was God's mercy to deliver him from the sin of not only adultery but murder. The point being God could not let the king get by with this sin. God loved David, and David knew it. David was a son of God but not the Son of God. He was man that loved God and knew his protection was still there despite the punishment for his sin. He knew God's correction was for his benefit and the benefit of Israel, to know that sin had no place in society and the King was not above God.

Dear Heavenly Father, forgive us our sin and remind us of your sheltering arms even in time of correction. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Hebrews 12:5-11 KJV
5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
