Come To Unity In Agreement 07/24/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisEphesians 4:1-16 KJV
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Paul argument is can we come to unity of faith, or that we should come to unity of faith in several things, from there is only one Lord, and one Spirit, to the fact Christ died on the cross and rose again. He descended down into the grave/hell and he also ascended up on high leading and setting captives free and leading them upward homeward. Why would there need to be general overtone of facts for unity of faith, well if we cross reference the Gospels: Matthew records the resurrection of both Christ and the dead that rose, Mark only records the resurrection, Luke records the resurrection and the ascension, and John records only the resurrection. Even in the stories in the Gospels do we see particial agreement. The truth of the issue is Paul is establishing facts for the saints of Ephesus. Things to come in agreement on. The Four Gospels only tell the facts by the apostles and each one gives only similiar accounts. If you take four people there account of events will be different. It was the foundation of the first church started by Apostle Peter as leader. Those were the foundation of faith began. Yet the church was built on Jesus being the chief cornerstone.
To be unified in the church body with other churches certain core factors of beliefs must be established. Not all churches are the same in how they teach faith, but in order to have unity among the believers the core of the church doctrines must be established. The true church is unified by these doctines of both the Godhead, resurrection and faith. If there is not unity, then how can the church function in love through faith in Christ Jesus. Hard to edify the church is there is doctrine discord. How to unify the church if the very foundation is not acceptable to the majority can only happen through teaching of truth. However it might be better to teach doctrine of Godhead outside the church and Biblical sound doctrine to establish faith when the core is in disagreement.
Let us in the church world agree on the basic of faith and let all everything else be segregated as freedom we have in Christ to demonstrate love in different ways. Allowing the HOly Spirit to work his gifts in us as children of God.
Dear Heavenly Father bring the church world together in unity of faith and continue that healing in the church world. IN Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Philippians 2:1-2 KJV
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
