Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Genesis 36:1-8 KJV
1 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.
2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;
3 And Bashemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth.
4 And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;
5 And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.
6 And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.
7 For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.
8 Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.

There is a reason why families gather together in big reunions and why some family goes so far away from each other. It not always a family feud, but perhaps the need to grow away from family. There was a house that set vacant for years behind me, a large house still with furnishings in it. It was beautiful old home, but it had two other lots that set vacant. It was divided by children that did not get along with each other enough to come to agreement to sell or for one of their own to tend to the home, so eventually it was sold by the town for auction. This house was then tore down and a parking lot was built and a garage built upon it. I never heard or seen the family that own it, but what remember is the legends of who had once cared for it that had died. The stories of their garden, that was also remembered by grown kids in the neighborhood.

Prosperity in a family to go beyond and move away to keep from family interference is sometimes necessary. However Esau took from the face/presents of Jacob his family. These tribes throughout Biblical scripture would continue to cross paths but how they were kin is never really mention beyond this time. If one lives in a small town, who your kin to seems to matter, yet sometimes it better not to be traced to how one is kin or knows another. The land in Esau and Jacob case could not support both families. Their herds and cattle were just to large. Similiar reason to the separation of Lot and Abraham.

I look at the number of churches in many cities and many areas and wonder has the little pop up churches not consider the work of a larger church could do and the diversity of people within the walls of a bigger church. The littler social groups with in the big walls of a large church. Yet sometimes it better for a church to split because of the region and area, it is serving. It is stretching to far for some people to drive regularly to service and are no longer able to participat in other activities because of distance. It not that people don't want to know other people in other churches, there just not enough space for another large church of that size to grow and be has productive. The little pop up church has the ability to grow and either continue to prosper or to fizzle out in time. Then there is always room for more churches to have two churches on every street corner.

The expansion of moving into areas without overflow of population but plenty of resources only maps that idea of how to survive over long periods of time. If there is a creek and thousand people drink from the creek, it time to move to a river. It time for growth of the family to expand to a region that can handle new growth and it be productive for that area and the family that moving there. It is a cycle of life that most over look in small mountain communities as people leave in search of work, instead of finding businesses that can help the economics of the region and not just their people. Big business usually controls a community or big government. Yet something else happening as people leave for work in other communities they also cause intergration of their people if they ever return back to there small communities that bring back all sorts of changes.

At this point the Promise land in scripture is still the promise of hope and prosperity in a strange land. Even Jacob as a herds man wander the area, though Isaac a farmer had settled. Land ownership never made any sense until a house is placed on a piece of land. Why because that house is on the property that one needs to own. Truth little house means that children over crowded in a home will feel the need to go beyond the doors of a tiny house one day. The need to find their own place too. The population wars because science is still working on expandability in outerspace as well as throughout the world.

The maps of our world shows little expandability left, so tiny homes, use of smaller spaces seem to be a solution for some, yet those that love large spaces and not small spaces, the idea is only a pipe dream of unreasonability. The greed of space is the need to stand in the middle of a room and not feel claustrophobic or have large super size gatherings without six foot distancing more like 2 inch distancing. Germ control then becomes an impossibility, and the need for space grows. People build then high rises and skyscapers to try and control the issue of the need for a population war.

Instead of the world just saying Lord we need room to grow and expand, they take the responsibility of trying to control the population. Jacob and Esau only had to move and separate to solve their growing family problems. Yet today population is solved by a pandemic and tomorrow maybe a war, and the next time maybe a flood. The deer being over populated means fresh meat to eat, or disease will spread. Man learned through wildlife how to control.

What the point, sometimes we need more prayer. No always we need to pray before man goes trying to solve problems with science,with technology, with wars, and with tiny homes that are more like living in cubicals then common sense in some ways. And yet why not, there plenty of room in parks and recreational places right? No it means the world outside your cubical is a gym or recreation and wherever you place your home, is the location of your cubical for the moment, but the big wind storm, or disaster now left you in panic or without a home. Can you drive fast enough to escape the storm, you can not drive fast enough to escape God.

How little space can you take up, a cubical, a garage, a tiny house, or a football field. Life of expansion and population crisis. Next thing you know man will be putting houses on pedestal stands above business community. Yet never asking God what is the best solution to solve the problem of population. How there is always room for one more person in God's kingdom until the devil shows up.

Let our world begin to seek God for a way to solve the issues of our world instead of just trying to solve them through wars, genocide and disease. Let us pray that our problems will not be our future generation problems.

Dear Heavenly Father, please help our governments and scientific world to solve the world in ways that would please you and allow one more person to live and not die because of population war or disease. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Matthew 22:10-14 KJV
10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
