Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Romans 8:37-39 KJV
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In the continual scripture passages we find John 19 verse 5 say when Jesus was on trial before Pilate; "Then Jesus came forth, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!" Jesus would go to the cross wearing the crown of thorns and being disrobed of his royal garment. A crown of thorns not something he deserve to wear. His crown should of been glorious, but it was not. This crown was a corruptible crown not one of incorruptibility they placed upon his head, only God the Father could give Him the incorruptible crown. The world crowned Christ with a crown of corruptibility and then crucified him saying crucify, crucify him. Pilate declaring he was not the Son of God but only a man. An a soldier would declare upon Christ death that He must of been the Son of God, because of the quake that occurred upon his death as well as other signs. God declared Jesus as being worthy of incorruptible crown, being obedient unto death. God declared despite man unbelief even still today, he is his Son whom He is will pleased, yet the soldiers places the crown of thorns on his head and say crucify him. When God declares who Christ is to the human heart, we hear crown him with many crowns. We hear the angels declare his power in our hearts.

Jesus received first the crown of corruptibility, the crown worthy of sinners, and not a king. A crown with thorns that bruised and pricked his head. Man could not grasp his worthiness to wear the royal crown though he was given a royal garment of purple. This purple robe would be casted lots/gambled for. Not just the purple robe but all his garments. They were reuseable and there was even one fabric without a seam causing it to have value. Yet despite his royal garment declaring his nobility, they placed the crown of thorns on his head. Though one robe was given him probably the purple one, his clothing or attire still declared his nobility as a leader. Imagine the inner garment wearing the blood of his beating. Yet he was stripped of his nobility at the cross. His need of those garments no more. No need of any dignity for the soldiers and the crowd took it from him. Imagine his pain and his numbness of the current pain coming and going as sharp pain of agony wretched his body. Those in constant pain know what I mean by coming and going of sharp pain, those who has never experienced it can only guess. No one wants that type of pain. Now the pain of the nails going his his hands, and yet he was willing to endure to receive the incorruptible crown of His Father in heaven. He knew what heaven looked like for He always was and his. He is the Alpha and the Omega. The First and the Last. The point being He knew it was worth the journey, the pain the suffering, and going to His human death to receive the prize an incorruptible crown, He was worthy of wearing. One day all nations will declare Him Lord and every knee will bow.

It is easy to lead if you know the goaled is obtainable, but God's power in the believer is not for us to use at our own will, but the will of God. Christ after all turned water into wine at the will of his mother. How much more will Christ turn water in to wine for the believer if we ask. How much will the Gospel be spread at the suffering of his people. Paul was a persecuted man, and yet he was convinced of eternity as Christ already knew his fate and outcome to the fate of his death. Christ no longer had to suffer as humankind, but would grab hold of the throne, that his Father had promised. Paul had vision on the road to Damacus, declaring who Christ was to him. He experienced many things on his missionary journey's to be convinced of the sacrifice he made in spreading the Gospel was worth the risk. I be truthful no one wants pain or suffering for any reason, yet Paul went knowing the hope before him. He was convinced he would gain a crown worthy to be tossed at the feet of Christ. He was convinced that God's love and grace would not depart from him. He was convinced nothing could separate him from the love of God despite what man did to Him. Yet Paul in Romans 7 would declare that there were times he failed as human. His desire not to sin was there, but the impossibility not to fail was not reality. He preached that Gospel both to himself and to others. If the Gospel did not stir his heart it would not help anyone else and He knew it.

What is the point Paul deserved suffering for sin, yet his suffering was because of the sin of the world that rejected the Gospel. Jesus did not deserve to suffer but suffered because of the sin of the world. Paul admits he was unworthy, he should be castaway, and yet he found himself a servant and enslaved to the Gospel of Christ because of the crown he would obtain because Christ His leader had gone before him and He knew of the eternal love God had for mankind to give not only the hope but the promise of eternity to all that would believe. That love would substain the believer during all tribulation of faith and unbelief. The crisis that only a test of our faith, and the crisis that is because of our faith. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God. It easy to run the race knowing of the prize of eternity, but it is also that race we run that teaches of His grace and comfort. It is that race that teaches about our hope in Him. We might not wear a crown of thorns or any crown to our human death, but we know the spiritual crown that declares each believe that we are his child. We do inherit eternity with Him. One day we will have eternal victory if we will remain in his love and hope. God is able to keep us to the day we cross the finish line. Worry not at your failings, repent, get up and dust off your garment and move forward, leave it at the cross, and remember whatever you go through God is not going to allow you fall, but there is time when your humanity will cause you to sin even against God. Our humanity means we are not Christ the Son of God who could go run perfectly his race toward the cross and continue through his resurrection. Paul is someone to look to as being human in every way, knowing he was not God's Son, but he was striving. Christ is our example of the perfect walk, the walk we should strive to obtain, but Paul is our example of the humanity in which we sometimes walk in because of human fralities. We must remember our own race, our own journey and strive to live holy, but knowing when we fail we have an advocator with the Father whose name is Jesus. Those super Christians are examples to us, but they are not the example we are to follow, but their life is often inspiration to us all of the eternal hope we have through Christ Jesus. Let us hold to our hope.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to run the race towards the door of heaven. To run the course of our life span for your glory. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: John 19:5 KJV Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

1Corinthians 9:24-27 KJV
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
