Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 28:16-20 KJV
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The twelve were the only one's near by when Christ ascended into heaven. Did other see this event perhaps. After all how far do we see things travel upward in our sky. We know that over 500 people seen Jesus after his resurrection. The words of Jesus after the resurrection to his disciples were quite clear to go and teach all nation. To teach to observe all things whatsoever He commanded them. Today I want to finish up a thought from two years ago about what did Jesus actually teach. He taught to visit the temple. He taught to teach the law of God, and he also showed the people the breaking of law by all people. He taught the power of forgiveness, and the power of love. The power of the Holy Spirit to heal the sick and afflicted, He taught the disciples to pray. He taught the disciples to pay taxes. He taught the disciples to teach all people, not just Jews.

Council in Acts said not to put any burden but the obedience to one law and that was to not worship other gods, because they knew not the law of God or Moses, we must stop and think for a moment why did council tell them only this law if Jesus told the disciples to teach them all things He command them. Was the council wrong. What was different about Gentiles, some already worshipped God the Father in their own way, not necessarily Jewish way. They were not in Israel teaching, this was outside the gates. God's laws always applied to all mankind. However there were those that obeyed that law of God without spiritual knowledge of these laws. The only law missing would been to put away all other gods and worship God alone.

The baseline of faith, repentance is established. The baptism of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is given both in teaching about the godhead bodily, water baptism as Christ did for repentance of sin and laying on of hands to receive the Holy Spirit. All these things taught and learned about to be able to grow in Christ. For a new believer the first law to learn would be to worship and honor God Father, Son and Holy Spirit only. If you only had one law to learn the first one is important. To learn to love God and the second is to love others as yourself is the most imporant commands Christ gives. Is worshipping Christ wrong, if it be wrong Jesus would of corrected them before He ascended into heaven. Are we breaking the law by worshipping Jesus, the answer is no. Most remember Christ declared his equality with the Father in the book of John. To study and learn God's word is to observe Christ teaching. Christ taught more then to love God and others. The first law that important was the honor of God and why idol worship was wrong.

To love is a natural occurence in relationship with God, but also with people. Whether you love God or not you probably love someone even it be only yourself. When the process of understanding God's love verses the love humankind can be slightly different or the same, depending on heart. Yet the observance of honoring God being most important, godly love is then taught. Then respect of others as well as yourself is then taught. Do you put yourself down, not jokingly, but in all seriousness or do you build yourself up. Do you build other's up or tear them down. We all know something bad about almost everyone we know. It is life, but do we know something good about everyone we know? Are we building people up or only tripping them up.

To teach to observe, to build others up, to strengthen the good things in people and only stating the facts of the situation people are facing is all part of teaching about God. Let me say let us observe who God is as well as to honor and worship Him first . The other stuff will fall into place.

Dear Heavenly Father, teach us to follow after Christ in obediene and knowledge of you. Observing all things you taught. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Matthew 22:37-40 KJV
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
