Don't Eat Meat Of Idols
7/08/2019

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 Corinthians 10:1-33 KJV
1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.
27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:
29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?
30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

What is it to listen to Spirit of God? When Paul is debating with the Corinthian church in a letter is speaking in a way that Corinthian church understands. Paul takes more then one chapter to make his point. Yet it seems Paul played the devil way to long in this letter to make a point. His final analysis is not to eat or drink of anything contain to idol sacrifices. What is it to listen to the Spirit of God. Moses failed to listen to God and hit the rock twice and water still gushed out. Yet Moses was corrected. Yet the people drank of the water of life. Water pour out not because of obedience but because God seen a need despite the disobedience of his servant. In truth the punishment came to Moses not the people that day. Yet Moses punishment was prophetic and not for the present time. Moses would not be allowed to enter the promise land for his disobedience. People drank the water of faith, of believing that when Moses hit that rock water would pour out. If the congregation believes despite the unbelief of the minister the water of God is going to pour out on the people. Remember God is not going to allow the devil to speak to the people about Jesus, without enforcing what God actually says and does. Baalim is a prime example of an evil man force to speak God's word. Truth it takes only the believers to see the works of God in the congregation of worshippers.

Let the believer use his first weapon of warfare prayer. Let the power of God flow in the church on the unbeliever to convict his soul.

Over the years I learned many things, some things of God and some things not of God. In fact if you study culture or even watch or view a show on Television about another religion, you are dinning on these things. It does not mean you are worshipping these false gods of false religions, but you learning about them. If the world is learning about idolatry in such away as to be convicted of this religion to a form of worship then one is listen to falsehood of devils. If the culture produces demons to the point your fears of evil are radiated through the television it is falsehood. Hilter's uniformity in military control is a falsehood in regards of his power and prestige to the point the world looses the fact of how many people he killed for different reason even because of race and religion. God's military reasoning might not even make sense but it works because of faith and not the understanding how the playing pieces on a chess board should move to win a game.

Faith is not defined by demons or their tactics. God does not want to glorify a devil. He does allow to rise and fall so the world can see their fall. Paul is converting back in his argument to staying away from food sacrifice to idols. To abstain from it as a testimony to God. To abstain from evil and anything to do with idols. Jewish faith is not idol worship, in fact it part of Christian faith. Jesus even went to the temple. Even read the ancient text of prophesy so the Jews might eat, despite harden hearts. The food Jesus offered was the word of life and the word God had prophesied fulfilled. The food of devil's is more then physical meat but a spiritual meat. A piece of tainted meat by devil, or tasted of royal meat flowing from the word of God is the only choice you have.

Paul is teaching about spiritual meat. The meat in the sense of dinner for satisfying the belly. Paul in Corinthians goes in detail to the church in Corinthian because it a land of the gentiles, a place of idolatry and worship of devils. There were people of God despite the worship of idols. If we read Genesis and study Abraham journey we find he ran into people that believed in God as well as worshipped many gods. They had fear of many gods in their life, but only one God had power to warn them of danger in coveting a man's wife. What the law did not apply to the heathens. No God's law always protected God's people. God was bearing testimony of whose child Abraham and Sarah were.

We can not say it okay to eat the food of idols and then eat it, on a spiritual plane unto belief. If we can not eat food of idols on spiritual plane we should not eat of the physical food of idols in the physical sense to demonstrate the fear of our Lord. We eat not the meat of devils not because it would harm a person, but it is opposition to the worship and honor to our Lord. The reason something is not done is for a reason. Paul in his argument is now following the Council original advice to new believers.

As a believer I want the living water to wet my thirst. As a believer I want to honor God in my action and my life style. As a believer if I worship my Heavenly Father, I want to worship him alone, and have no other God's before me. I want God's power demonstrated in my life and in the life of those around. I want man to see God's power radianting even in place that God is not welcomed. One can not serve two masters. One either serves God or serves the devil. One can not serve both. For there only one Lord and the meat at his table is filling. His name is Jesus.

Where are you in your worship of Christ? Are you feasting on the manna from heaven. Are you feasting on Christ. Are you feasting on Christ, who body was broken for you. The bread in communion represents Christ body, but also feasting on his words. His words is our manna. But His sacrifice is for our ability to live eternally with Him.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us only to dine on the manna from heaven and not the manna of devils. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:Revelations 2:17 KJV He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
