Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 4:16-30 KJV
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

The Year of Jubilee was for Israel healing and it occurred every fifty years. It stop enslavement, and restore family and homes of any debt owed. I believe it may of been a little more complex then what I writting but the purpose of it was to liberate and to free people from the bondages of this world. Jesus read from Isaiah about the acceptable year of the Lord, which actually meant the year of Jubilee. Or the year of liberty, when God freed His people. Jesus ministry was in the early stages when Isaiah was quoted. Interesting thing to remember there is spiritual liberty and physical liberty that seen. Jesus came to set the captives free. First way He planned to set the people free was through preaching the gospel to the poor, he was here to heal the brokenhearted and to preach deliverance to the captives, heal the blind, and to set those bruised free. This he would preach on the acceptable year of the Lord. Meaning he would preach liberty to all. LIberty is a precious possession. It not tangible because in truth it must be given in order to receive liberty. It can be won, and it can be bought but it is more precious when it is a gift.

Jesus declare to the people in the synagogue that today scripture had been fulfilled and it angered the crowd for they understood not how Jesus was their liberator. They understood not how Jesus liberated them. In fact they seen it has the time frame of Isaiah not current. In their mind going to the synagogue was probably was a condition of social attendance. The people knew their scripture but not the time in which it was declared. Meaning there were those in need at the time of Isaiah that received no physical change, but received spiritual change in their heart. What does it mean exactly to receive the year of Jubilee on a spiritual plane, but an awaking to God, to his liberty through Christ, his healing power to the soul. This actually would anger the crowd, because Jesus explained only few were saved and healed and delivered at the time of the prophesy of Isaiah. It anger the people so much they were going to throw Jesus over a cliff, but he walked right through the crowd. The point it was not Jesus time yet to die, the spiritual healing was not yet, but their blindness was real to who he was.

What is truth is blindness is not the responsibility of the people, it was a prophetic condition of the people at the time of the Messiah. He would bring healing, but it would not be fullfilled til prophesy of his death and resurrection for their and our sins were complete. It would be in Jesus third year of his ministry that healing to the soul would be complete for forgiveness of sin, through the cross of Calvary. Blindness was already in place. Jesus would go about healing people and teaching the gospel of kingdom of heaven, baptising them, and teaching all things concerning God, the Holy Spirit and Himself, as well as about love.

Liberty is about peace. Liberty is hope. Liberty is about freedom of war, freedom debt, freedom from the headaches in life. Liberty is freedom through healing of diseases as well as spiritual healing. The liberty America faced in 1776 was liberation from British rule. Britian had taxed Americans to the point it was craziness. Costing Americans more money then they even made. Britian could not see what was happening in America being so far away. Telephones, were not thought of, much less a computer. No way for them to know the conditions of the people. Yet the king tax without representation. Yet by going to war Americans earned their liberty, setting themselves free from Great Britian, and their tax laws and legal laws of Britian. Word spread on the street and was carried across our land of victory and a celebration to come on July 4th. Actually Indepence was won on July 2, 1776, but it took two days for word to travel to other places. Once our freedom won we gave a cry of liberty Americans had not known. Our nation in truth needs to reliberate itself when it comes to taxes, but in truth taxes exist to pay to the governement. They see how it effects ourselves as well as helps foreign people. Yet a liberation could be done with less violence, but done through legislative branch of government. Government can see how taxes effect the people. In fact the year President Obama was in office many people got money from the government that was never given out before. There is point, our liberty is at a price of human life, let us not be taxed to the point it cost human's life once more. Actually it already is because we having starving poor who can't even afford tax on bread at times. Yet things are slowly changing as our leaders hear the cries of the people. Hear them and looking deeper into the problems of the poor. People are now being helped once more in whys that hopefully will put some back on their feet to live and be prosperous again.

LIberty is a precious thing, it is freedom at the its birth. It is freedom before the headaches of this world begins once more. Think for a moment if the New Jerusalem coming down from heaven is on a new earth is not the liberty on judgment day not a restart of the past. No there is a difference, God is in charge. God needs not money, or material possessions. He has all He needs in the palm of his hand called our world. He has all of his people. He will have all his children on judgment day and will dry their tears. Jesus will wipe our eyes and we will know the liberty of healing when Christ returns one day. Liberty comes now with salvation, knowing that our sins are gone, and our debt we owe is zero balance. Our sin debt to come is already paid as well. Our repentance once and for all. We are saved by grace, not by works. We are saved through faith in Christ Jesus. What we owe can not be paid, but we live our life as enslaved to Christ and yet we are free.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the freedom through Christ Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
