The Vision Concerning Persia

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Daniel 10:1-21 KJV
1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;
5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.
8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
15 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.
16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.
18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

Often one might think visions in the Christian and Jewish world is unheard of, because few talk about these things happening. Yet visions are talked about in scripture. The problem with a vision is with those you must speak it to, inorder to help them believe. I believe in our world today there are vision talked about but also by many false prophets of many cultures. As a believer I believe visions can be from God. But also believe when they occur one must be willing to understand. The vision Daniel had was concerning the fall of Persia and the rise to come of the Greeks. Just because Jews were in exile it did not mean God's people were not given dreams and visions to tell of the power of God and what was about to befall the children of Israel. Daniel was left alone because of earth quake/shook as him and his friends sat together waiting on God to speak and they had been fasting. Daniel was weak from fasting and one called Michael one of the arch angels of God came lifted him up into a sitting position and later touched him to strengthen him. Archangel Michael is thought to be Christ for he is depicted in scripture as one having power over Satan. He had power and might as the Chief prince of archangels. A depiction also later given in Revelation 12 of the preincarnate Christ. Christ as Angel/Prince before his birth. The attributes of Michael is one being like Christ in regards to compassion of the needs of Daniel.

What is the simplest message in this chapter is the vision did not come to someone not willing to learning or to seek understanding. It came with the ability to understand because Daniel was in leadership in Babylon though he was not a king. God was preparing Daniel to tell what was coming to pass.God was not leaving him without understanding, knowledge and truth of the events to come. Advantage is if one is in leadership in a palace then you want to know about the enemy coming and those around you will want to know too.Yet Daniel felt weak and was strengthen by Michael. The ability to escape and be warned of danger coming even to a palace of idolatry. Vision are to aid the people in times of trouble, to give hope and understanding of things that can not be necessarily understood. If God provides you with understanding because you seek to learn and to understand, God is also going to give you strength to tell about the vision, give you hope during the vision and after the vision. The vision itself testify about the truth of Daniel God.

Where are you this morning concerning the gifts God gives you if you are a believer. Can you believe in a prophesy of ancient times that came to pass that was recorded in scripture? Can you believe in vision that came as prophesy to Daniel, to enable believers and non believers of God's power and warnings of what is to be. Are you willing to accept God's vision of what is to be in your world today. Some things I have said may of been prophetic, by God's grace, but other things will I have to think what did I know, what did I see and what was understood by everyone knowledge if they sought information on prophecy. What time was it recorded and what time did it make news or was the news first. That my friend is the reason why when Daniel receives his prophecy it still is a ways off from occuring. God is the only one that can give long distance prophecy. God is the only one that can stir the heart of a believe who knows what was prophetic and what was not. Yet the rest of the world sometimes has to examine based on evidence and knowledge of their world, and it might lack in understanding because of knowledge.

My friends that read, and study and examine the news, consider what you speak maybe from God or it maybe something seen by evidence you have read. Let us be careful to declare anything a vision or prophecy without the long time table. Long tables are understood as prophecy then not, yet what was known at that time is important too. Was Greece sweeping across the known world at the time of Daniel vision. Or was it more the knowledge of the Archangel Michael that is more convincing in the way he strengthens and comforts Daniel. Let God confort the prophets of our day and allow them to speak boldly the things which can and will be in our world.

Dear Heavenly Father, if you choose to speak to your children of the things that will be, grant them strength and understand of your business to bring forth fruit for your kingdom, In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

John 15:14-16 KJV
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
