The Law And The Destroyer Of Satan

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 9:28-36 KJV
28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.
29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.
30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:
31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
33 And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.
34 While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.
35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
36 And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

There is two things scripture does for the world, it can establish the law and it wants to destroy the deeds of darkness. Two things that are consistent with scripture even non believers bow at the word in regards to the law of living in harmony with each other the law of love. The second no one has time for enemy to constantly disrupt their life. Elijah was a prophet at the time of Jezebel and Ahab that with God instructions took down the false prophets of Baal. Moses during his day help established the law of love. These were the two men seen in the transfiguration. As Jesus prayed, he was transformed and seen Elias(greek for Elijah) and Moses. Christ came to defeat the enemy and establish the law of love. If Elias was already here and had come, if Christ was Elijah in one since, yet he sees Elijah. Why is it so important. God word is also separate and yet the same as Christ.

In Revelation 1:1-2 KJV 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

John beared witness of both word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

There another verse but I can not lay my hands on it this morning. I remembering using it a few months back I think. But the verse implies the separation of Christ's word and God's word. With the coming of the law and the defeater of darkness at the time of Elijah we can see how God's word is applied and Jesus is the word to come. Jesus would be both the lawgiver and crusher of Satan. Yet He only crush him at his first coming by crushing his ability to keep us from eternal life, because of the first temptation of man that cause all mankind to have the fait of death. Christ defeats death on the cross. Elijah could not defeat death, but Elijah only slay the enemy of darkness and lies of Baal by calling down fire from heaven through prayer to God making a requested to his heavenly Father God.(I Kings 18) He did so by the belief God would send fire upon the altar he built after he also poured water over it. Impossible lighting by mankind, but not impossible by the power of God. Baal only made an altar and could not bring rain of fire upon the altar though he slash his body with knives and beat himself with whips in fashion of idolatry. Jesus would bare the markes of Satan wrath upon his body, but would over come the enemy through his resurrection. The enemy having no power over him, yet with his death the enemy laughed not knowing he was about to be defeated on the the third day with the resurrection the ability of Jesus to come back to life defeating the power of death.

Jesus two predacessors were there before his death reminding him of the establishment of love and establishment of hope eternal for all believers. Did the disciples understand. Of course they understood not, but those in attendance at the site of Elias and Moses wondered if they should witnessing the chit chat between Moses, Elijah and Jesus. And God said this is my Son hear him. Interesting to note that disciples wanted to build something to cover them. Yet God overshadowed them with a cloud, covering them in protection for the disciples. We need to understand God covers and protects his word. We need not to cover his law of love, his defeater over death and the enemy(his Son who name is Jesus). We only have to testify who God is, his love and about his Son who can defeat the enemy of darkness. Leave God to cover it all by the power of the Holy Spirit, God's word spreads in the cover of the Holy Spirit.

You ever witness the covering of the Holy Spirit you know where angels walk in the shadow of death they never fear evil, for God covers them with his wings as a mother duck covers her brood/gosselings with her wings. It is a mighty site to see God's covering and protection over his word even when the enemy tries to destroy it.

Dear Heavenly Father you sent your Son to destroy the law of sin and death and to show the world love for eternity to all that believe in His Son. We thank you for the victory we have through your Son of eternal life, may you cover your word and protect us in the shadow of your wings, as we share your love and victory. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Matthew 17:6-13 KJV
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
