Time Of Christ: Jesus Is From God

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

John 16:29-33 KJV
(29) His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
(30) Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
(31) Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
(32) Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
(33) These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

After this passage the hour was coming of Jesus being betrayed by Judas. The very hour of the kiss that would betray Jesus and tell the soldiers who to take to the cross. Yet right now the disciples believe Jesus is from God. Yet Jesus asked you now believe. He was asking because he knew his disciples were fixing to abandoned him that very night. To understand Jesus is from God is not enough. To believe He has the power to protect, and for one not to be afraid to run is another. Yet the human response to danger is to run and hide. To face the fear of what laid ahead would come for every disciples that would face death because of faith. Yet this very hour was only preparing them for their own hour. For James would face beheading. Peter would be crucified upside down and not all disciples would die gruesome death. But those that did, knew first hand how to go to their own death, for their Savior had gone before them.

The hope of salvation the belief in God is only half the battle believers face. They must learn to first trust in God direction and power to protect until time of death. Tell it time to go and be with Him. No doubt the words of Jesus would haunt them when they realized they fled as prophesied that very night. To know Godís protection was with their fleeing would be knowledge not foreseen until after the event. The shock of what was befalling their Savior, the one sent from God, was much like the prophets who had gone in ancient past to their death. With that the scattering of those under the prophets would begin. Godís way of spreading his word perhaps or a tool he uses to do just that, because He is allowing the devil to do what he does best thinking he will win the battle yet. The devil not perceiving that the Jesus would have victory through his resurrection. The prophesy of what was yet to come not understood until the Savior rose. One man dying for the nation, yet his disciples scattering and gathering to mourn, not knowing or understanding the scripture of the resurrection.

It is the same with us when Godís word moves on our hearts and minds to act to believe his word. To know His word is true and yet not fully understanding what is to come or the promise in his message to our hearts that one day will be fully realize with His return. God almighty warning us every day of his Sonís return. Not fully realizing the journey we are on is only glimpse of what is to come. If only glimpse of what Godís speaks to the heart of man then we must move by His Spirit in faith in which we stand. Yet if run it is only for a time, and for a reason if nothing else for protection at Godís hand.

Dear Heavenly Father even when our emotions gets the best of us reminds of your protection through times of running and times of standing. Standing to face what may come and running for your protection and grace. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
