Jesus Is The Christ

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Matthew 16:13-28 KJV
(13) When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
(14) And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
(15) He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
(16) And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
(17) And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
(18) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
(19) And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
(20) Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
(21) From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
(22) Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
(23) But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
(24) Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
(25) For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
(26) For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
(27) For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
(28) Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Jesus openly declared himself as the Christ to the woman at the well, yet He desire not this knowledge be to the whole world of yet. To even tell one person he was the Christ would not be silence so why silence his disciples when he ask them who they thought He was? It is a great mystery to understand the silencing of the disciples until their time of speaking out would come. Yet the church would be built on the very solid principal that Jesus was the Christ. What does the word Christ mean one might ask? Christ meaning the Messiah or the anointed one. The word Messiah can be applied to any chosen priest or king of God. One might want to apply this title only to Jesus, but it can be applied to others. Yet Jesus was different because of the virgin birth, because his appointment to die because of sin not just of those killing him but all mankind. Not just one group of people but the world. Appointed to bring about Godís kingdom to Godís people and the people of the world. One examines who Jesus is He was the one to come to be a worker of miracles and to explain all truth. The righteous need not Jesus, but the lost need to know the way to God. Jesus was the usher for the Gentile nation to God, though Jews always received proselytes into their faith.

The eternal war of pagan ritual of killing their children for sin, or offering to their gods and goddess is a war those that believe in God before Christ had to deal with in regards to the death of Christ on the cross on a hill far away. In Mel Gibson, The Passion of the Christ one of the scenes displays the devil cheering upon the death of Christ. Yet it is the resurrection that ends this cheering. The Jews did not believe in sacrificing of humans for sin or offering to God, though Abraham had tried and God had stopped him. God provided the pagan sacrifice, only to destroy it with the resurrection. It was better to hush the kingdom of God then to anger the government and religious leaders.

One of the things that angered me after my healing I heard a man from a pulpit say if there was a true healing do you not think the government would not investigate. In truth did this minister not realize that government has medical evidence through technology on every healing that is recorded by doctors. Television ministers that claim healing and that are investigated actually can be proven with the scientific world as hoax or a reality. Christ in his day only had the village people to cry out this is a healing or a miracle of those he cured. One only has to announce the faith in which we are healed by and nothing more. If you are healed by Jesus then you know your answer is Jesus. No prophet or teacher healed you only minister the religious act of praying for you. Did Paul not warn the people not to bow to him or another disciple because of healing, but to bow to God and Christ Jesus the word of God. No pagan sacrifice could hold Jesus in the ground. No pagan act of trying to destroy to silence Jesus could hold him in the ground. Had not the leaders wish to silence afraid of the revolution among the people. Had not Jesus stirred up the crowd to welcome him into Jerusalem like a king on Palm Sunday. Yet no one cries this is pagan but the will of God because it is only by Godís authority does Christ crucifixion take place. Takes place so that when He arises from the grave on the third day, deah could not hold him, but Jesus would take his place in the kingdom of God at the right hand of the Father because He was chosen to pay the price of sin of the whole world. The world that continued to believe in human sacrifice the gentile people and Israel who had turned from God. This would destroy what Satan kept trying to establish, by the resurrection of the anointed who was chosen to die for the nation. God was establishing His kingdom through the resurrection of His Son. Building the temple of God with the resurrection.

Yet no one wants to examine the cross in the light of the opposition of Godís kingdom only from Godís view, because that opinion is the only one that truly matters. Yet we must examine history of sacrifice of humans for what reason. To understand the revolution that Jesus caused with his resurrection. That faith in God could not be destroyed and if it was for a time, it would return to the people. For God ability to speak to his people, and to those He draws to himself for his service would remain until Jesusí return with the angel shout and the trumpet sound. The final proof the resurrection was real not a fact not a forgery, or hoax as the devil would like to claim. In all truth the world is still battles with the question what evidence is there that Jesus is the anointed one for sin and if so why has he not returned. Without looking at natural signs around us at the scientific reasoning for the reality of the existence of God to the examming of looking at simple nature knowing there must be a God. A God that loves us if his design was so intricate to design even you and me. Man desing many things but nothing comes to life. Even robots can not live without someone to turn them on.

Jesus demonstrated He was a Son of God and a son of man. The work of miracles and the teaching of the law in implication to how it applied in spiritual way. How the law was grievous because no one obeyed the whole law. Yet faith in God covered sin even in the Old Tesament though there was still payment for sin. Christ came and did away with payment for sin. Yet there is correction by the Holy Spirit and manís law after the Holy Spirit fell on the Gentiles. Jesus proved the devil could not kill the soul through the cross. How many times do Christians have to forgive to prove that what is done to them does not kill the human spirit, and yet these things are duplicated in the heathen world. Only the resurrection of death demonstrated that human grave could not hold man down. That the resurrection to come would be greater for it the grave could not hold the gentiles down but they too would be raised up for all that believed in God and Christ Jesus. Our passed sin can not hold us back from walking with Jesus. Our passed sin can only remind us of the price Jesus paid for it to be buried at the cross, and new life be established in the heart of every believer that sin no longer separated man from God, because the anointed one stood in between and said Father forgive them for they know not what they do.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to not allow the enemy to destroy our faith, but reestablish your revolution of faith in our hearts daily. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
