01/03/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 68:1-19
(1) To the chief Musician, A Psalm or Song of David. Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.
(2) As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
(3) But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.
(4) Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.
(5) A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
(6) God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
(7) O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah:
(8) The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
(9) Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.
(10) Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.
(11) The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.
(12) Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil.
(13) Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.
(14) When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it was white as snow in Salmon.
(15) The hill of God is as the hill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan.
(16) Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.
(17) The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.
(18) Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.
(19) Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

God has the power to scatter the enemy. The road of the enemy is one of destruction or repentance. It is not a road of abundance of spiritual food and water but a lack there of. The whispering of God to the sinner through that ages. Never in abundance is the call to come out of sinful road, yet there is a call. Pharaoh heart is harden to the poin the goes chasing after God to know him but to destroy his people. Do not go after God’s people with battle ax, with whips or chains, because you find yourself be dragged by those same tools into the desert of despair or downing in the red sea of your own revenge.

God’s people are people following after God, and receving all the benefits and blessings of God. Even in times of exile the benefites of knowing God was greater then the not knowing. It was God’s provision in the storm of life. God’s provision in the wilderness, leading his people into faith in him, not of faith wrought by the hand of Moses. Moses a believer but choice as go between by the people. People yet to learn what it means to trust God in the journey. Never perceiving that putting a man in the middle caused separation between God and them. A separation only God’s word itself could mend. That why those ten commandments on the road came before and after the decision of the people to allow God’s leader to be their intercessor. Moses last prayer to God had to do with a man be called to leadership that would lead the people to faith and a relationship with God.

God wanted to rectify the issue of the division between his people and Himself. In so much he wanted to teach the people His blessing because of obedience to him, and not for them to know the fear because of the power of God and the judgment for sin. They had seen the judgment of God on Pharaoh and now feared a God who truly loved them and wanted the best for His people. Yet all the people understood is Moses had a connection to God and seem to know what God wanted. To scared to even ask of God themselves. Yet as Israel went through the wilderness and also through exile, the benefits of knowing God shown forth in his people. For Moses a man of faith, hit a rock and water came forth for thirsty people. The blessing of God came forth through the journey in the wilderness.

Christ would lead the captives free from the grave, as he descended down into hell, but upon his resurrection he set his people free. Free from a yoke of bondage. And gave them gifts for the journey ahead. The gift of the Holy Spirit to do miracles as Moses did in the wilderness and Christ himself did while he walked among his disciples and the crowds. Those miracles that are performed even by the prophets and minister of our time, are not of their own hand but by the power of God and His anointing on their life. Those are gifts from God for the service in which he called them to do for Him. It is for their protection. Yet it only protection til it their time to go t be with God.

As praises come forth from the believer the fear is no longer of being afraid but reverence for who God is, when one begins to understand that benefits of knowing God. One benefit is answer prayer. The gift of prophesy is shown. The gift of the Holy Spirit is demonstrated in a believers life. Yet the terror of fear of God has to go if you ever want a relationship with God. See to be fearful in the since of being terrified will not get a person to a place of talking to God. Yet it is a place of getting one into right relationship with God through obedience. Sometimes we learn to obey God long before we ever make him Lord. It understand his love that one embraces and finds a need to confess sin. Easier to tell a person you don’t fear the truth then a giant that lords his position over a person. Same way with God.

The wilderness was a part of life, it was not something one can necessarily escape, but it is a place one can choose how they walk through it. It is a place of laying the feeling of terror of God aside and finally looking to His love, compassion and protection. Understanding the love toward his people, by seeing the blessings of God in their lives. This is something worth praise God for, because in truth the enemy is scatter because of the blessing poured out on his people and the victory of His people.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for bring each of us to a place of no longer terrified but respect for you. No long afraid of the destruction and division of the enemy, but give us the hope to embrace your love not because of the benefits but because of who you are as Heavenly Father, Abba. Jah, the true name of God. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
