The Passover Lamb 02/15/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisMark 14:11-25 KJV
11 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.
12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?
13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
15 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
16 And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
17 And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
18 And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.
19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
20 And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.
21 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
The night of the death angel so long ago was still celebrated by the Jews because it symbolized the night God freed his people from the enslavement of the Egyptian Pharaoh. They put lambs blood in faith on the outside of their doors for protection God had promised them and closed the door with all inside, and the death angel came and killed at the first born of Egypt, both young and old. During this celebration they would eat what is called the passover lamb. The lamb without spots and fairly young was killed and the blood put on the door post. No one knew thousands of years later Jesus would become the passover lamb. His blood shed for many, who honor not God.Jesus had a room made ready by his disciples for the feast. They gather together and it was solemn occassion for the disciples and Jesus.
Jesus tells them one would betray him, and they all went around the table saying is it I. Yet Jesus only said it is the one that dips his bread into the same cup as I. He takes the bread and blesses it and tells them this is his body that broken for you and that the wine was the blood of the new testament which is shed for many. He would drink no more blood until he drank in the kingdom of God.
Symbolizism is very important in ancient culture, but perhaps more when it came to the rescuing God's people. Jesus would die and rescue many from their sins. This is almost like the prophesy of destruction by Isaiah and other major and minor prophets. See a time was coming the temple would be destroyed. Destroyed because the enemy creeping in by not honoring God first and for most. The church world is no different by allowing new agers to come and enter the church, changing the worship of God to the good vibe feeling. These groups never open the word of God to know the word of God and only believe in the Spirit, leaving out the word and God all together. Seekers and lovers of self more then the things of God and the needs of others.
Christ was willing to lay his life down to show the world not only what was coming, but the fact that people honored not God anymore. He does it in a radical way, much like the son of Gideon, and much like Daniel. If you were not of God, or not of the Jewish faith, all this would of seem maybe particially beautiful and even a bit silly. Because it had to do with continual desire of control in some opinion and not a matter of the spiritual heart of worship.
The Lord supper is observed to examine our hearts when we take it reminding of us of the New Testament of Jesus. Remind us of his death and resurrection. If one can get the world out of there head long enough to see the symbolize of faith, love and hope through Christ Jesus who bridged the gap for you and me to make atonement for our sins to God the Father, then we can understand he calling us all to worship him, because of his love and mercy he as for us. He seen what was happening in the spiritual world of faith and how man continue to corrupt it and came for those who would hear and listen to Him. That would not be taken in by the government or by the corruption of religious money hungry baboons, that valued money more then the sacredness of the house of God and the worship of God.
Where are you this morning are you a baboon or a faithful person who desire to worship God. If you desire to worship God consider allowing Jesus to come into your heart and forgive you of your sin. Make him Lord of your life. I never regret making Jesus my Lord.
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you and praise you for all you give us and for delivering us from our sins, by giving Jesus our atonement for our sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: 1 Corinthians 10:16-21 KJV
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
