Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Genesis 24:57-67 KJV
57 And they said, We will call the damsel, and enquire at her mouth.
58 And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.
59 And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men.
60 And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.
61 And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.
62 And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country.
63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.
64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.
65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.
66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.
67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

As everyone in America and around the globe approach the end of 2019 and fast approaches 2020, it time to reflect to look back to pray and meditate on what is to come. With the changing tide of events in our world, I can not help but think to myself what will 2020 bring. When I look at the globe and see the world and wonder will it be a peacful year. It easy to cast off the old and begin a new year. It is like starting a new journey in one's life. It only a remind oneself that one can not change what is behind , only one can change the present and future situation from what one learned in one's past.. Today we look at the story of Rebekah, given a choice to go with the stranger who had come seeking a bride for his master who was kin to them. Rebekah was willing to leave immediately and go with stranger. She went with the blessings of her family. She did not take time to reflect or to ask any questions. Her only question she asked is when she seen the man she was to marry and then she covered herself. Isaac on the other had when he seen camels coming had been meditating in the field in the evening. prehaps his custom every evening. His time of reflection, and it was cut short by coming of camels. Upon these camels rode his wife to be. He seen her and brough her to his mother's tent and took her to be his wife.

When we think of a change of life we do not think of marriage but usually a change in regard to needing a change in one's fifties, going through a crisis of needing change. In life a person goes through many changes and I do not think 2020 will be any different for us. After all the New Year always brings change in some form or fashion. If I asked how this end of year by season in my area was going I would say very strong winds have plague December. Must like our March winds are suppose to be but this is December. Rebekah did not think about her decision she just went, she had to know who this man was that could send someone to search for her. God often sends a servant to help people find their way to Him. Rebekah salvation came with the sending of a servant by her father in law Abraham. She gave up what she new in exchange of an adventure of life time. Marriage alone is an adventure of a life time commitment. Most make it with much planning. Yet she did not seem to give it any thought, until she seen him afar off, and then she got off her camel and cover herself, to cover herself from being seen by him until the wedding night.

As 2020 begins to be unveil in all its glory of 2020 and 2019 is laid to rest, let our hope and our dreams rest in the future and present we can change. For we can not change the past from being what it is and was. We know that truth of 2019 had been laid out in its full glory by tomorrows end. and when over the unveiling of 2020 will begin. We can not change the hauntings of yester year but we can change the future of our lives. No doubt Rebekah decided to take a change of the unknown. We to much take a change of what we do not know that lies ahead for us, hoping for change and better tomorrow. And those in age, know when time draws nearer for death, only thing left is jumping into the grave to see what eternal door holds. For the living we fight each day for the future of what we hope for and desire, yet it not always what we hoped for. Isaac and Rebekah would follow the God of his father Abraham, and even seeking the Lord why Rebekah was not pregnant and she would have twins that would be opposition to each other. She would protect her son's Jacob from his Father and send him in search of a bride among her people. Esau sold his birthright to his brother with a bowl of soup, and Esau would remain behind to care for his father and mother and have a family of his own. The birth right that was sold was one of faith, and prosperity. Jacob would have vision from God of the prosperity of his family same as his Grandfather Abraham had.

Rebekah was blessed by her people as she left. Are you blessed this 2020, by your choosing or your families. Will you bless others in 2020. Will you take a giant leap of faith no matter the journey that lays ahead. Will you be Rebekah, or Isaac, One taking a risk and the other in deep mediatation unto God trusting his will and ways. Will you not stand in the way of others that need to leap this year into life unknown situations, just blessing them as they journey ahead. If we bless more then we curse will life be more abundant for others as well as selves. Let us not bring judgment on ourselves but blessing to ourselves and others. Let us be a world of hope for a better future.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to take leaps of faith and hope for a better future, trusting you in the steps that lie ahead. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
