Fervent Heat 08/30/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris2 Peter 3:1-18 KJV
1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
The most interest thing about end of time is that science backs up the destruction of the earth to a point that is beyond our own understanding. With Green House Gas or Carbon emission causing the issue of toxins in our air that is destroying the planet as well as effecting our rain causing a lack there of and global climate changes, we can understand the principals that at a fire of destruction can happen. Yet what we fail at seeing is that when it happens science will not be able to stop it, yet they search for a solution to improve the environment. No matter how successful they are in saving the planet, God is still able to send a fire of destruction with the coming of Christ. However the knowledge of this is enough to help us understand the Bible said it before Science.
This is a Monday for me, and with the thoughts of what God can do and will do, let us lay aside our fear and rest in the hope and faith rooted in Christ Jesus. That are faith is assured, because God has promised not only of Christ return, but his ability to save his people and create a new heaven and a new earth. Do not use destruction as a fear factor but a hope factor, knowing His word must come in order for the new to come. That hope of eternity can be anyone that will believe and trust in Jesus this morning. Receive Him as Lord and stop worrying about things, and trust in the one who has it all in his hands. Take care of the earth because that was God's first call on the believers life upon creation of man.
Dear Heavenly Father, Lord thank you for your promise of your word of not only destruction but of a new heaven and a new earth that they old must be done away with for the new to come. Help us as believers to rest in that hope. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Genesis 1:26-30 KJV
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
