Be Strong In Grace In Christ Jesus 08/27/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris2 Timothy 2:1-26 KJV
1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Love is the most important gift in scripture, it is fruit, is a gift and it is God. The attributes give to love is maybe most important because it something that must be learned to some extend, and something that always bears fruit. Give a person a hug except during times of pandemics and you will find other hugging and loving back. Yet love is often seen as a two way street it is not. A divorce couple one might admit of not loving their spouse, but the other one might say the love 100% and the other person's 100%. There is times when our human nature is mad at even God, some might say I never experienced that, but in reality that how one might of treated their relationship with God, ignoring God as if one is an angry spouse, laying aside the truth of the word to chase after one's own desires. It called backslidding. There is no divorcing God until the day of final destruction. There is no getting rid of God. God can separate himself from you like he did Cain, but your existence in this world still exist. There is times God carries us in our weakness of faith, maybe the most loving gesture one will understand when their faith seems at a point of letting go, God is carrying you over those humps of doubt, grief, anger, and frustration. One can understand the principal of walking beside God as a friend and also leading as a shepherd or a leader in one's life, it is the carrying in life we only understand once we look back and only see one set of footprints in the sand. It those times of being carried we realize he kept our feet from slipping, or only allowing us in a little mud hole or getting only a little tarnished.
Paul in second verse explains to Timothy to teach others that will be committed to keeping of the faith. Fellow men that will carry the Gospel on. Men that are not lovers of themselves but servants of love, servants of Christ. Men, who's goals are to please God. Teaching them the same things Paul had instructed Timothy and others in groups. The same things Christ taught his disciples in private sessions as well as to the people. Men willing to deal with the harshness of discipline to be a soldier of Christ. What that means as we began our walk with God, no one is perfect and God will begin to correct through the sanctification process and we have to be willing to allow God's correction to manifest itself in our walk, as far as taking heed and listening to God. Paul is teaching Timothy correction has to be able to be handled by these men, correction of God and instruction by the Holy Spirit. Correction of leaders and teachers of faith. That is begining.
There is laws that are not accept by some believers and accept by others. Not laws that are sinful but laws that are inflicted upon a person, almost like a club, eveyone wearing the same type of clothing, shirt, pants, dress and so forth. It the club that says I can only eat fish on Friday, and yet I willfully ate it on thursday, only to then eat it again on Friday because it is according to religious law. It the issue of the shewbread that David and his men ate when hungry that was forbidden by the religious law and the corn that Jesus's disciple were picking and eating on the Sabbath that upset the religious leaders. One is not to offend the weaker of the faith. Yet Christ never only rebuke the religious leaders. We are instructed by Paul to do as others do because of peace. Christ was teaching the religious leaders and people about hyprocrisy, Paul is teaching about discipline that matters not to help remain order. In this way maybe those in legalism when see compassion, and those that are rebels in faith will understand these things are not essential for faith. Bearing to forms of godliness, one that cause friction and one that causes peace. Choosing peace unless to teach that these things matter not in following in the ways of Christ.
Understand by teaching the opposition in truth might cause one to die for faith as Christ died and we buried with him and taught. The believer is buried and will be resurrected with Him, but our resurrection is time of Christ return, no, because to be absent from our bodies is to be present witht he Lord. So if crucified with Christ for teaching understanding of religion and religiousity, and the true difference of what faith is, then may we be crucified with Christ and buried but let also know we will rise to be with Him in the heavenlies and given a new body/home/shell(John 14).
Despite all else the foundation of faith stands sure. Lord knows them that are his, and those that are his knows there name is written in the lamb's book of life, because God reveals his power through them as children and believers of faith, in answer prayer, the working of miracles, the evidence of the Spirit through love, hope, faith, mercy, and so forth. Those that claim the name of Christ depart from sin, depart from the ways of evil.
One more teaching, a minister needs to be meek in teaching about removing of sin of others. That the sin in their life must be moved, even after salvation, to help one to come to terms to turn away sin before and after the day of salvation, for the work of Christ is about being sanctified through the work of grace.
Dear Heavenly help those that teach to be willing to heed your instruction that comes through ministers that is of you and also through your Spirit alone. Sanctify your Childern through the teaching of your word and the truth of what faith is truly, a simple belief in who you truly are and faith being evident in the love of your children. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Romans 11:5-6 KJV
5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Ephesians 1:1-14 KJV
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Luke 10:17-20 KJV
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
