The Thresher
8/26/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 3:16-18 KJV
16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.

What is baptism of the Holy Ghost and why do we need a thresher to purge the earth of sin? When I was looking at this passage yesterday the need for threshing is a time of separating the wheat from the chaff, or taking and producing seed ready for the sower to plant, to fall, to rise up to produce good fruit from the word of God. Now if you say that to fast you want to know why is everything about seeds and harvest. As a child I witnessed one great revival, I like ot say all revivals were like that one revival but from outwardly seeing it is not so. This one revival brought the whole congregation to their knees. The church was packed with people. First revival of its kind I ever remember witnessing and then I remember as a child, I often fell asleep in the pew so this perhaps was the first revival service that I remember people going to the altar and kneeling talking to God. It was the response of the word of God that got my attention, that year and not who was not at the altar that should of been there too.

God wants to take his word bring us to place we understand we often living in option to his word, and bring us to our knees in the knowledge that we could not stop ourselves but his word can, the power of the word of God can change our life. See Christ died for your and my sin. That the word of promise God sent to us that his Son would die for us, he lay his life down for us if we only believe in him. How do you think a parent feels when children goes in the opposite direction then the told them to go. When that direction causes harm and hurt to their child. When Adam and Eve sinned it hurt God, but he had to punish man despite his love for man. The promise of death to offspring that followed not in his direction because it produced offspring of sin and not offspring of faith. Yet the hope of eternal life was given through faith in Christ Jesus/word and repentance of sin.

The power of Christ in the flesh was seen through his healing, through his teaching and preaching, and through other signs and wonders before the people. He planted the seed of faith, the seed also being the word of God through teaching and the promised of the Holy Spirit which gave the power of the Holy Spirit to his disciples. It was by that power the purging of sin came to those during and after the time of Christ. It not the power of the individual to teach or preach but the power of the Holy Spirit to speak to those blessed with the gift of God to teach, preach, heal, communicate, for the spread the Gospel to produce fruit of love, hope, gentlenss, kingdness, longsuffering, and more.

Every person that receives the word, the miracle, the blessing of God has from God has received a seed of faith. Now faith continues not without the Savior, and the Holy Spirit in a persons life. There is time seed falls on shallow ground and rocky soil and it does not grow very big and fizzles out. Then there is times that the soil is rich and seed grow and becomes a tree or plant that produces fruit of Christ. We are to produce fruit of love, hope, and faith. Even unbelievers learn about our faith by our actions.

Then when Christ gathers his people with the weeds he separates them, purging the floor of debrie and leaving seed behind. See this site is not as important as the scripture of God's word on it. My words may explain something to you as any teacher or minister would, but the Holy Spirit has the ability to communicate that same message to you through the word of God called the Bible if you just sit and read it. Something you understand by things you see in your own life and other things you have to research because you do not understand it. That okay. But faith in the word of God comes by reading, hearing, and listening to it and also believing it. Coming to knowledge that Christ died for you and was raised back up as a testimony we are forgiven and our sins were buried with his death. Christ still talked and walked with his disciples forty days after his resurrections, after his suffering for you and me. As God's word grows in the believer we will produce fruit of faith, hope and love.

If Christ is the true vine and God is the gardner, then every branch that does not produce fruit will be purge, but those that remain in God's word will produce fruit. God Spirit prunes us when we abide in the vine cutting off dead branches and cutting off dead fruit. Yet there is hope in the vine for the branches that produce, For the vine gives the branches life as long as they abide in the vine.

Dear Heavenly Father purge us with your word to bring forth the fruit of love, faith and hope in our life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: John 15:1-9 KJV
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
