God wants to bring you out of the land of captivities. Wants to bring you out of deliverance. Wants you to remember the day of deliverance, and to celebrate it, But also to do that one thing that you were doing when God brought you out of your exile. What did you do the day you were deliver? What were you doing the day you were set free from the devil upon the day of your salvation. Was it in a church, Was it on a mountainside, was it sitting on a porch, was it at a campmeeting, when God brought you to your knees for deliverance. Now if you been through hardship, grief or times of difficulties what did you do to start your journey forward in your walk with God. What did you do when you went into the wilderness with God.
Where our journey with God begins is when God moves us to worship. I been moved by God on more then one occassion. The journey with God is not always a glorified road of halellujah chorus. Yet there is those storms when God says it time to bow to worship. And In my own life I was woken in the middle of night and said come praise me. I dead asleep and no desire to get out of bed, but God beckon. I think to myself why Lord at this hour of the night. I sat an looked for scripture and could not find one word of praise even with going through the Psalms that seem to fit. I said Lord I can't find anything that seems to fit and He said can you thank me. The word Rejoice does not come in scripture until Leviticus and I wonder why. Because rejoice is what you do when their is victory, not the begin of the storm, not the beginning of the journey.
If you listen to your kids on a long distance trip their favorite line will be are we their yet, unless you got movies, computer games, and other things to keep their mind occuppied for the trip. The point being it is the journey that we need to reflect on at the time of rejoicing. The journey, the storm, and wilderness experience in our life. The children excited running to the car, but the trip not so fine, and then once there the shouts of glee heard in their voice.
As Moses handed out the feast that were to be in celebration to Israel one of them was the feast of Tabernacles a time of rejoicing with palm limbs unto the Lord. People were to set up tents, a symbol of the wilderness journey out of Egypt. For seven days they were to dwell in these tents(booths) as a reminder of being brought out of Egypt out of captivity, but also reminder of the road and journey ahead.
Israel was made by God to leave Egypt. They were in celebration for the trip, without fear of the shelter, or food in their belly. They were not scared of the hardship they were fixing to face, they were head forward in their journey in life and in celebration of being able to go out into the wilderness to worship God. I learned in life, that Godly road starts with joy of faith in Christ Jesus, and it begins at the altar whether metaphorically or not. Whether it on the knees or in a crowd of people on a bus. That communication with God by the soul of man speaking directly to God. It is that time of saying Lord I surrender all to you.
Can we celebrate our faith from where it began in each of us, and remembering the begining of the road, to reflect on how far we now have traveled. It not always joy in the journey, there is sometime sorrow, and pain. Our journey with Christ always beginning with the joy of knowing we have been redeemed. Israel had been redeemed by God and was celebrating in booths coming out of Egypt.
