Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 16:7-16 KJV
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

To understand why Christ did not stay with us and instead went on to be with His Father after the resurrection though he stayed and taught the disciples forty days, it is for the purpose that the Holy Spirit could come and judge the world, because the prince of the world is judged. Who is the prince of the world but the devil. What can we say to know for a time the devil been cast out and God came to judge the people by His Spirit. Christ with his first visit did not judge, nor was he a ruler in the legal realm. Jesus was a teacher of faith and belief in God and the Holy Spirit. Christ also taught of himself of who He was and his purpose. John 16 is the time table before between The Lord Supper and the garden where he prayed. As far as the devil being cast out he talking about the time of resurrection when the devil had no power over the death of the believer. The devil is cast out. His abode being hell. There is time when he loosen only to find himself once more in the eternal lake of fire where hell is also cast.

Christ is not judging us yet, a time of judgment and legal reign does occur. We can understand that God's word still judges us, and we are judge and convicted by the Holy Spirit of promise. That judgment you felt inside the church was it of God or the people? We need to examine ourselves to know whether the judgment was of who. Judgment of man can not see our inner heart, though often our actions portray our heart. God first came as friend, for He called Abraham friend. Those He spoke with through the Old Testament age were consider friend except for the devil, and anyone against his people. God even warn idoltars of sin against his people. Example would Abimelech, who took Abraham sister/wife to be his bride. He did not know Abraham was married to Sarah. Only thought she was his sister. Those that believed Abraham's God found relief in the storm that arose because of deceit.

God intent of faith in him was not to leave any tribe out from knowing Him. He though made it plain on who He protected and it was the believer. Job believed, but God allowed Job to be tested, and gave him reward in the end of his testing. The Holy Spirit and Word of God being present throughout the Old Testament. Jesus came as a promise because despite sin, despite that people sin had reach the heighth of heaven he still loved the people. God wants us to rely sololy on him for decision we make, and not on the things of this world. King Zedekiah though he listen to the prophets words he would not obey them, He knew Jeremiah words were from God. God cut Zedekiah off for disobedience and for unbelief. Israel had turn their back on God so much through sin and idolatry, that God promised a Savior would come and Holy Spirit would return.

God sent first a teacher like himself, and then he sent a judge like himself, one that convicted that would convict heart of man. His Spirit testifies of all truth and also prophesy concerning HIs Son and God himself. He also warns the believer, tells of time to come both individually to global world. He speaks of HIs Father's business to the heart of man. Disciple and evangelist Philip found himself in Acts 8 speaking to an Ethiopian Eunuch and then whisked away by the Spirit to another place. God judges all of us, not just the believer. The Holy Spirit came to approve you and to remove sin from the life of the believer. Reason God's Spirit tells us of things to come, is so when it passes the believer that witness, know that they been visited by God and knows the truth of what God's says will be. Only way God word changes is with mercy and grace because of repentance.

God through His Spirit speaks to your heart about salvation through His Son. God through HIs Spirit speaks of who He truly is. The reason he does that, is because He is our Creator and Creator of the Universe. He desires to bring us good things into our life, and He desires to establlish peace in our hearts. Sometimes the way God blesses us, is even in storm, or through a battle in life. He desires not forsake us or to leave us without knowledge of Him, so when we exhausted ourselves we can reach up or at the minimum look up to Him and ask for our sins to be forgiven, and to find a knew living way through Him and no longer subject to a world of sin, but will one day reign and rule with Him. The Holy Spirit comes has judge of our hearts, but also to enable his children to be obedient to Him and His ways.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to understand God's Spirit came to judge but also to receive us upon repentance of sin. Help us to understand Christ came as Teacher to save us from our sin, but also to be the sacrifice for sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Revelations 20:2-3 KJV
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
