Jesus Is The Way

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 8:21-30 KJV
21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.

Jesus claimed to be the way. Some believe Jesus is the way the truth and the life. The disciples were willing to die for their faith in Christ, after the resurrection. No one would be willing to die without the resurrection. After all Peter had denied he was a disciple during the trial in the outer area. It was not that Peter had no backbone, Jesus had told him he would deny Him three times. Peter would go to his cross and even asked to be hung in another way because he felt unworthy to die as Christ had died. There had to be something more for the disciple to testify of Jesus to face the persecution from both the Romans and Jews. To face the consequences of their faith in Jesus. Jesus claimed to be the way, but those words alone would not be enough for most to believe. There takes a percentage of evidence of faith, where God divine power is seen, for one to believe. Disciples would have evidence through miracles, casting out of demons and healings. This would be enough evidence to go with their child like faith. Yet not enough when Jesus went to the cross and they scattered. With the resurrection and proof that Jesus was alive physically, it would be enough to cause a stir across the known for many centuries.

The Jews thought Jesus was about to kill himself, but their no evidence in his speech to the believer to indicate this. Instead the Jews understood not that Jesus told them he be going away and they could not follow, and it is because they sought and looked for their Messiah and could not find him. They looked not understanding who He was. He explained to them He was from heaven, and they were of the earth. See Adam in Genesis 1 and 2 was first man created, and he was created by God from the dust of the ground from this earth. Yet God took this man Adam and placed him in the garden of eden to take care of it. Jesus is telling them he is not from the earth, He is from God. His origin is from above. Now without knowledge of the virgin conception one would say you are totally nuts now. God created the life form in Mary without her ever having sex. Some would say perhaps I watching to many alien movies. Truth is the virgin conception is the first evidence that Jesus is the Messiah.

Jesus is clear if you do not believe that He is the Messiah, then one is going to die in their sins. The fact one needs to believe in Jesus to be saved is nothing new, For not to believe in God of the Bible is not to have faith at all in the God of the Bible. And if you have faith in God, who is the Messiah, then one believes the Bible account of God to be true. Some do not believe the Bible is true. Evidence of the lack of faith that God is not real is denial of faith in God, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Some deny parts of scripture and others deny Jesus was more then a prophet. Even atheist read the Bible as a book. Let us not forget that our enemy is those that deny simple truth spoken in God's word.

I was sitting and praying once upon a time and talking to God about an issue I was having and a verse popped in my head. Then the question came do I believe that verse. The answer was yes,but my response was, "but... uh, God I know your able to do all I ask for your glory and honor." The truth is simple there are times when we struggle even believing God's word to the letter it is written. I know simple trusting God for a need, is simple asking and allowing God to do what he will do. It laying the issue at his feet and allowing his provision. God never fail me to provide, but the truth is when praying the issue of trust is a reality. It is a reality one has to deal with when it comes to faith. If we do not trust, then how do we expect God to do his part in the equation of the impossible.

If God is able to set the rules for the punishment of sin, then he also able to provide the way of escape, but one had to believe first. The issue was those listening to Jesus, some believed and some simply did not. Jesus makes it clear from the beginning those without faith had no salvation. Jesus also teaches not until they see him lifted up those that believe will not fully understand who He is and that His Father sent Him and is in Him. And nothing he does can be done without the Father. The importance of God's Spirit in both Christ and the believer can be seen in the last few verses. Without the power of the Holy Spirit Christ has the authority and power to heal, while the believe is able to pray for healing to take place in a person for wellness. Where is the line drawn between humanity and the Son of God being equal to God, for man is not equal to God. Where is the line, it in where we are from, the fact we are created in the likeness and image of God, but we are not from heaven. Actually women were made in heaven. But the substance of our nature is from the earth. We are not created from God's word, We are not God's word. We are not formed by the word of God as Jesus is in the womb of our mothers. We are formed in our mother's womb by the processes designed by God to occured by one man and one woman uniting together as one. Jesus was created by the word in virgin conception. Why I am repeating, to expand on the idea and the reality of what Jesus claims. Where are we in faith. Is it impossible for the Messiah to be conceived and born by a virgin birth by God enough evidence of God's power, probably not. But it is a beginning point of faith. Those that believe what caused you to believe. As a child we accept something is true because we trust those that teach us. When we find a person we trust has lie, then we probably will not trust them anymore. What happens is we learn first to believe simply child like in order to see the truth of God's word coming alive in our own life. Man reaches a point of saying why not, because my choices are little, maybe the evidence came from the archaelogical and historical proof we have today. Maybe your faith came through answer prayer of a believer you knew that was answered. It takes faith and it takes evidence for faith to even continue. Believers it is time you share your story of faith in Jesus, about your own belief with those that will listen. Do not say I am a believer, tell of the answers of prayer you received. Tell of evidence and history you learned about to be true. Tell of miracles that God gave you.

Are we blind to global disasters, being like the days of Noah yet not striking the entire globe. The destructive force of God when it comes, will be global but with fire and not water. Earth is crying out the power of God, but few hear. We can not deny God's ability to destroy and protect. To many stories of protection have been told in this century alone to not believe. Miracles of healing have been told not to believe. Answer to prayer have been told not to believe, but until the reality is yours it still will take faith. Where is your faith and your power of belief today. Will you believe Jesus is the way, the truth and life? I can do nothing for you but pray as a believer, Jesus has all the power and ability, I lack ability to do something.

Dear Heavenly Father, stretch the believers faith even more and open the eyes of unbeliever to see the truth of your word. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
