|Every Sunday A Psalms:Man's Desire For Revenge
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris
Our human instinct to desire revenge against our enemies and Godís enemies is real. Yet our human instinct to revenge should be saved till the day of Godís choosing and not our ours, unless in battle in times of war. David was man of war so were many kings after. Those who wrote the Psalms were often speaking from their heartís desire. The world lost many musicians in recent years. Some of faith and others were not. Every musician sings the songs about the world we live in or silly songs of fantasy.
The psalm writer is angry at the opposition, so much that he wants God to revenge the enemy. If you going into battle this Psalms might be one to read. To fight in war you have to believe your team is going to war for the right reasons and not the wrong ones. One has to fight the enemy with idea that they have gone astray from the right way of doing things and have sided with their ruler and others that in opposition to you. Without the mindset of victory lays in your wake, one never fight a war against evil.
The desire for Christians to see God Jesus revenge enemy at the time of final judgment. We long for the day of judgment as believers so we do not have to suffer at the hands of opposition. Yet one has to ask if one was once in opposition is one asking also for GodĎs mercy and grace on the lost and dying world. Some people have made their choice and will not repent but those that have not or will repent and call on the name of the Lord, will be saved. God showed us mercy may he show the world mercy and give us the grace to endure against evil and avenge those who will never change.
Dear Heavenly Father help us when the crowd is against us, and enable us to fight for your cause. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
