2/19/2017

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 125:1-5 KJV
(1) A Song of degrees. They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
(2) As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
(3) For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
(4) Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.
(5) As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

(17) And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
(18) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
(19) And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

The solidness of Godís word will never change. The promise of eternal life was from Old Testament to New Testament. Mount Zion represent the Eternal city of God. The mountain God not being able to be removed not because there not enough jack hammers or steam shovels, but because the mountain of God is one of faith and trust in the word of God. As God builds the believer he learns to trust in solidness of the word of God, speaking both through scripture and the Spirit. God is always around His people. God encompasses His people no matter what. God surrounds his people as the mountains of my area is surrounded, like the mountains that surround the city of Jerusalem. I am sure if the plains had surround Jerusalem near by David might of said the plains. Yet what the mountains signify is the soundness of God and His Word for each generation that believe.

The promise of hope eternal is seen in nature. Yet the nature is destructible and removable, but not at the time Psalmist wrote it. The Psalmist was writing an allegory or simile. He wrote ot explain it in words of a poet. The hope of the believer is built on the solidness of Godís word. It can not be built on anything else. Emotionalism will not stand the test of time. Legalism to the law of God will not stand the test of time. Faith must be built by the hand and word of God in a personís life, the simply abiding by faith in Christ Jesus the hope of glory.

The wickedness of man will not be the fault of the righteous unless the righteous sin. How can the righteous sin against God if God seals them for the day of promise. God marking his people who trust first in His salvation and continue on in Christ. Faith is not broken by a true believer. Faith can not be altered. If one is wicked to the core of the heart where faith begins, then nothing can change the heart but an act of God. The wicked heart of evil will continue unless the seed of faith and hope is first planted. The wicked have no hope in the Lord. The wicked will continue down the crooked road of evil, and yet Godís people despite the wicked person life, will continue on in faith. Some point faith must begin in order for evil not to prevail in a person of faith.

Today are you trusting God and His plan of salvation or hoping to stand in front of God and say I only human. Only human will not cut it on the day of judgment you will need the lawyer Jesus Christ to stand in the gap saying you believed. Your good works will not stand alone as being a good person, for the heart is not one of faith.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to have faith knowing you will strength the faith of each and every believer til it is strong like the mountain of Zion. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
