Building Houses In A Cooking Pot
2/16/2017

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Ezekiel 11:1-25 KJV
(1) Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD'S house, which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.
(2) Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city:
(3) Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh.
(4) Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man.
(5) And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.
(6) Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.
(7) Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.
(8) Ye have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord GOD. (9) And I will bring you out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.
(10) Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
(11) This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Israel:
(12) And ye shall know that I am the LORD: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you.
(13) And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?
(14) Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
(15) Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD: unto us is this land given in possession.
(16) Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.
(17) Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
(18) And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.
(19) And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
(20) That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
(21) But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.
(22) Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
(23) And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.
(24) Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.
(25) Then I spake unto them of the captivity all the things that the LORD had shewed me.

The blindness of those that ignore God first prophesy of destruction of Jerusalem, feel themselves safe with in the cooking pot of the deceased. The undeniable truth of the situation of siege of a city being under the rule not of God, but under the rule of Babylon, speaking of lies by the men of the city, for surely thinking themselves safe because of their nobility and the fact they were by tradition the children of God. Thinking God would not allow his people to go into exile. To think God will not allow his people to be consumed by the world is a misguided light. If God allows his people at the time of Jacob to be consumed by Egypt why not at the time of Babylon. God had done it before and it was at a time of peace for Jacobís offspring, but this was a time of war of the exile of Judah/Jerusalem to come of foreign government. Circumstance different, but yet the same. God took his people out of the cooking pot of Egypt unarmed and returned them to the land. This time Israel was the cooking pot and their flesh was consumable by from being under siege. The army of Chaldeans already marching through leaving corpuses. Already coming through with decrees from their rulers. Yet Jerusalem though themselves safe from complete destruction, because they were working on cleaning up the city. They felt so safe they thought they could rebuild their house in the heat of the land of Jerusalem. Restoration to God does not mean you will not be in exile. It only means exile you will be forced to obey laws that are not Godís laws. That you will be forced from your country to see more of those around you murdered and demoralized. God does this because of the peopleís demoralization of their own society by breaking the laws of God inside Jerusalem.

Godís power is about bring them back out of the land of exile and reestablishing the laws of God in their land. Last month my comment was how many could live under the strict religious laws of God, meaning Old Testament laws. I said most of us use to a free society probably could not adjust to the Old Laws that are not part of our culture. Let me go a step further in our religious institutions which laws do we follow, the laws of God to the point the political law has little value, or the political laws that make our religious laws of no value. Which is organizational laws, legal law and personal laws with application to our life.

Everyday I come to that crossroad of imperfection and doing things Godís way. Everyday I have to ask myself is it Godís way, my country way, or individual cross way. If It my cross to spread the Gospel of Jesus and Holy Spirit, then I must ask myself one more question is in tune enough with both Godís way and manís/society way that I stand in the gap of these two things for myself. Because in all reality, I have to accountable to both the law of man and the law of God and not necessarily in that order. If I obeyed Biblical Law would I be alive and do I obey the legal law enough to keep me out of jail cell? If I am obedient to both and yet still find myself imprisoned, because I realize I obey neither completely, then I am in jail by first Godís law and second manís law depending on the transgression. If God takes me and puts me into the world of the people where the Gospel message needs to be heard, then am I in area where the law of society has to be followed to a point where it does not break the legal law and if it breaks Godís law, how is my heart judged for eternity.

God is going to teach Jerusalem how to live among the laws that are not of His, to obey Him despite the laws of scripture and the laws of a foreign government. God plans to write His laws on their heart. Since 1945 Israel being re established, God already established the ushering in of the Gentile people into the commonwealth of Israel by learning to follow the Messiah Jesus/the word of God. The greatest law of our time is still the law of God which is the law of love. The law that declares the respect first of God and their others. Israel right now is divided within the Jerusalem temple of Islamic law within their walls, yet under Israel being a free state to themselves by legal law.

Ezekiel being fulfilled as we speak as far as the return of Israel, though Israel was returned to their land they were under foreign government. Is Israel not under NATO Law as our own nation. No Nation is only a treaty or agreement between nations, it is not a governing law in the since of controlling what happens in our nation, beyond civil liberties of agreement for the protection of the citizens of each nation that joins it. It is the watch dog of nations.

To abide by our nationís law and universal law, we must accept our religious law might now always be in tune. Yet a day will come when Godís power will definitely reign in our lives, if we truly seek God for earth is only a temporal home and a portal to heaven by the grave through faith in God and Christ Jesus. To obey the Holy Spirit has never changed. To obey God direction even when it seems in options of what we should do, from Noah building Ark, to Apostles preaching and teaching in villages, under persecution, to today of still following God even when the devil still cries no.

The false teachers of Jerusalem were their leaders and not the prophet like Ezekiel. They understood not the exile was written down because of punishment, they were not safe because of where they lived and who they were. They were going to have to deal with Godís judgment. Will you obey God despite where you find yourself this morning, in exile, or in the safety of Godís house.

Dear Heavenly Father help your children to obey you and your voice. To heed the warnings of exile. Help them to obey you despite what others say. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:Hebrews 10:16-20 KJV
(16) This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
(17) And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
(18) Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
(19) Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
(20) By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
