You Can Not Bury The Evilness of Sin From God

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Ezekiel 8:1-18 KJV
(1) And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me.
(2) Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.
(3) And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
(4) And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.
(5) Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.
(6) He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations.
(7) And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.
(8) Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.
(9) And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.
(10) So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.
(11) And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.
(12) Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.
(13) He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do.
(14) Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD'S house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.
(15) Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these.
(16) And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD'S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.
(17) Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.
(18) Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.

Man from the beginning of time as thought they could hide sin from God. Ezekiel is given of vision of the abomination of Israel. The sin of a people is great in the land of Israel. Ezekiel had the counsel of the elders with him when God took him by the Spirit into a place of vision. Do visions still occur today. I believe they do. However one needs to hear the whole thing out to see who the vision is from. God is a jealous God. The things that make him jealous is idolatry, turning away from him, who created everything. The throne room is clearly seen in the beginning of the vision. A throne room of God creation. Then God takes Ezekiel and shows him the place man has built with idolatry first beginning under his sanctuary, and then on the outside openly in and around the sanctuary of God. Men still has that need to try and put God in a box so the things they want to do is not seen by God. Yet eventual they even take their evil into the house they build for him.

If we are growing upside down are growing in a direction not intended perhaps by man. For the time Christ man began to grow outside the temple which would of angered the religious leaders of His day. Christ was in His Father House in the field and the city streets. Yet Jesus visited the throne room man had built for God. Man built God His own house a house that was for prayer.

As the teaching of God by Jesus himself spread, it grew a large crowd, perhaps to large to be held even in little town synagogues or the grand temple. Yet Godís throne room was always open. Daniel look outside into Godís throne room when he prayed from his window of his small room. Perhaps because his need to be reminded of Godís handiwork.

Idolatry begins where it can not be seen by the human eye. It begins in the heart of man that says that God does not care, God does not see. Two lies of Satan himself. God does care and He sees everything. He even sees the idolatry of man, which is a great abomination in Godís site. People crying over idols created with the human hand. Crying not over their broken relationship to God.

The breaking of Godís covenant begins with sin. It begins with idolatry, allowing other things to be more important then oneís own relationship with God. God does not intend for us not to enjoy life, or care about those in our life, but as far as looking to salvation coming from man it can not. It must come from Godís salvation of His word. God gave us an image to look to His name is Jesus. One we would not sacrifice our children too, or do harmful things to our bodies. Idolatry as shameful acts of sexual immorality as long with cutting of oneís own flesh and self mutilation. Ezekiel probably seen things he could not speak that was going on. The vision would bring a startling reality of the horrors of Idolatry.

The shanking coming from a message of Ezekiel is one that is like pants being turn upside down to get all the loose change out of oneís pocket, before putting them in the clothes pile to be washed. Filth being shaken to see if anything is good left remaining.

Grow a tomato plant upside down, and see how much fruit is bears. Yet in truth there is still something good there that can grow. The soil produces good things, yet without the dirt no growth could ever come. Plant a water lily in water eventually the bulb with be covered by the turning of the soil. Without the turning of the soil the bulb root would become water log with no anchor. We need the anchoring of Godís word even when the water level is high. We need the covering of the filth for Godís word to flow all around us.

A perfect society without the knowledge of sin, or the reason of Godís destruction on a people claiming to be called by his name, need to understand the sin and the evilness comes from the heart of forsaking God. Purity is only skin deep. The bulb/heart is deep beneath the soil. It tells what kind of plant a person truly is. To dress up dirt even weeds will do. Yet to get to the root only a heart desire for God will do.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the reminder of the need for our heart for you. That outside appearance is not always what hidden beneath the soil. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

(14) Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
(15) Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
(16) Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
(17) Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?
(18) And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.
(19) The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
