The Siege To Come

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Ezekiel 4:1-17 KJV
(1) Thou also, son of man, take thee a tile, and lay it before thee, and pourtray upon it the city, even Jerusalem:
(2) And lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and cast a mount against it; set the camp also against it, and set battering rams against it round about.
(3) Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.
(4) Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity.
(5) For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
(6) And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.
(7) Therefore thou shalt set thy face toward the siege of Jerusalem, and thine arm shall be uncovered, and thou shalt prophesy against it.
(8) And, behold, I will lay bands upon thee, and thou shalt not turn thee from one side to another, till thou hast ended the days of thy siege.
(9) Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof.
(10) And thy meat which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shalt thou eat it.
(11) Thou shalt drink also water by measure, the sixth part of an hin: from time to time shalt thou drink.
(12) And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight.
(13) And the LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them.
(14) Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul hath not been polluted: for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth.
(15) Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow's dung for man's dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith.
(16) Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment:
(17) That they may want bread and water, and be astonied one with another, and consume away for their iniquity.

One has to think about the last three chapter of Ezekiel as if it is a vision to come then this next instruction becoming vision to be reality. To break down a vision is only to discover the reality when they occured. Yet to understand what is spoken one often has to put it at the time period it would pass. Last three devotions though truly vision, is laid out so the human mind can perceived at what truly being told. This next vision is almost like Noah ark, as soon as God speaks the prophet is expect to go do it. It not something to come as the vision of the last three chapters of Ezekiel, but is to be a reality soon of what state Israel and Judah are in, a time of siege is coming, almost like a last warning like the building of the ark being a warning message that Noah preached, but his preaching was hundred years. Ezekiel preaching was only 390 days for the siege on Israel and then 40 days for the time of siege on Judah, and those days would be equal to a year.

The prophesy of doom to come is not an old prophesy. Over the last thirty years or more Television ministers have been seen as preaching doom on the world. The world has been angry concerning the message of doom related to their transgressions. First our world has to believe in God in order to understand that preaching of doom is in conflict with the message of love, no that it is only a warning at this time, but once preached, the reality is sure to come, if no repentance comes. For ministers to claim that every disaster is Godís judgment it might be and then it might not be. What state of faith the individual is in, despite the nation of turmoil has great importance. God takes care of his own, that does not mean all his people will live on earth when judgment come, but all have hope of eternity with him to be.

The prophesy of a siege on Israel and Judah, is almost like the siege of our own government. The siege that say that Congress will not support certain actions by the president, and the judicial court becomes in agreement. Using the constitution power of election to think things can be done their way alone and there more to it, despite how certain things sound. Religious freedom in our land is protected, but terrorism should never be protected. Free speech is protected, unless in the battle of war. To hear Parliament in Great Britain would not listen to Trump, only made me I hope not he not your president. Our country only governs our nation, yet like other nations we have great influence. Great Britain is a small country with many friends despite its size.

The siege of Ezekiel day to come, is not yet, but the prophesy is done in a manner if done today, the preacher would have a stray coat put on and taken to the nearest insane asylum. Yet hear Ezekiel is called by God to gather so much food for the siege and for the time table. This is also prophet to those that would hear and be a witness of what Ezekiel would do. A warning that food needed to be collected for the purpose of survival. People of faith would listen to old Ezekiel and unbelievers probably laughed at Ezekiel for Israel and Judah were both great countries. Ezekiel began is demonstration of what was to come by setting up his frying pan and a few stones. Then at meal time he would cook his food over cow dung, but in time to come Israel and Judah would cook over their own feces. As discussing this sounds, this is exactly what would happen to Israel and Judah because of their sin against God. Yet the hope was still in this chapter of a time that Israel and Judah would eat the bread of God once more.

There is time of Godís word being rationed to his people and then times when Godís word is in abundance. Our nation as gone through periods of both abundance and silencing of Godís word, though we have a right to freedom of religion. We must ask ourselves if our rights are being taken who fault is it? It is the ones that refuse to take a stand at the spreading of Gospel of Jesus. The word of God will be preached everywhere scripture says. Jesus is the Gospel message of hope. Before Jesus in the Flesh, Jesus before the cross in the flesh, Jesus time of resurrection in both flesh and Spirit, and then Jesus being take up to Heaven, but the Holy Spirit returning to the people of faith enabling the boldness to spread the Gospel by His people to the world. To tell the world God and Jesus loves you and has not forsaken you. Our need to repent is always clear, the need of the turning away from evil and doing things Godís way never ceases. The hope is to live with Jesus in heaven or see His return while on this earth and be taken up to meet him in the sky. The bread of heaven is the word of God. All this prophesy to Israel and Judah was to bring about repentance and then hope. Yet Israel and Judah closed their ears to hear, but a few.

Dear Heavenly Father continue to encourage your people of faith in Jesus to hear your word of prophesy and place their hope in God and Christ Jesus. May your Spirit speak the prophesy of hope to our hearts with the need to continuing to turn from sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

(46) And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
(47) Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
