Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Ezekiel 1:4-28 KJV
(4) And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
(5) Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.
(6) And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.
(7) And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.
(8) And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.
(9) Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
(10) As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
(11) Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
(12) And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.
(13) As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
(14) And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
(15) Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.
(16) The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
(17) When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.
(18) As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.
(19) And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
(20) Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
(21) When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
(22) And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
(23) And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
(24) And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
(25) And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.
(26) And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
(27) And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
(28) As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

Ezekiel is going to the throne room. Yet has he watches the streets of the chariots and the men with capes like wings and shields with faces upon them, as he enters into the throne room, his vision begins of what Godís throne must be like. The enemy throne room of great glitter and decoration of that day and time. Yet he was also having a vision of Godís throne must be like. His commission from the government did not change the commission from Godís Spirit. Today men and women are commissioned by both government and God to explain and to teach the people that want to listen.

And easy way to describe this seen is the view of the cowboy and Indian westerns as the cowboys are taken into the medicine man or chiefs tent for a pow wow. Most people in todayís world have at seen at least one western. The cowboy has a commission if military to go and speak back to his government, but the cowboy also commissioning the medicine man to speak to his people.

Now Ezekiel we know had a call on his life, and Godís Spirit is speaking to him through the things he is seeing. If I walk down the road and I see a group of trees standing still saying nothing and they begin to speak, most would think I lost my mind. Yet the vision of God did not give the trees mouths to speak, but the Spirit of God began to explain the things those trees represent in his throne room. This type of vision Ezekiel is having is reality in one since and in another since it is a spiritual enlightenment of Godís throne room. Because of the military stance everything looked the same in design from the shield the men carried to the the hubcaps or wheels of the chariots. Everything in sync with one another in perfect harmony. Expansion over the leaders head was like crystal. Yet the color of water from the sea and from the sky was panorama of what Ezekiel was seeing. Whose throne room was Ezekiel in when he had his commission? He was in Godís throne room. He was standing upon the earth with the expansion of God above and the sea on the shore. Yet he had a commission from man and God.

Ezekiel was captivity and yet has a leader of the people he had a duty to speak of things of the government as well as spiritual things of God. Most religious leaders were consider highly educated. Willing to learn and so commissioned to learn the culture of the foreign government that took control of Israel. The religious leaders often castrated to keep from baring offspring would be commission by the government not only to learn the laws of their new government but to explain them to the people.

Through out this book we must remember that God is Spirit and that man is man. Yet what appears is vision of eternal throne by the appearance of the military of that day. Ezekiel was under the wings of God almighty. Godís Spirit resting on him to understand. God speaking to him of His godly appointment. As well has man speaking of his duty to his people to teach the laws of the strangers.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:Revelation 10:1-7 KJV
(1) And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
(2) And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
(3) And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
(4) And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
(5) And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
(6) And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
(7) But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
