The Storm Sent 9/07/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJonah 1:1-4 KJV
1 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,
2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
3 But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
4 But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.Jonah had conversation with God but its more of a direct order from God or assignment. With God there is a direct assignments because of one original call that wont be undone. This call to go to Nineveh was exactly that. A direct order of you can go the direction I tell you or I will send a storm that will also allow a fish to swallow you that will puk you up and send you in the direction you are to go in. Yet the storm first must come. Jonah knew if Nineveh repented God would forgive them. He decided himself these people should not be allowwd to repent. With God's anger kindle he caused a storm to come.
God anger is kindled at disobedience. God gives someone a direct order he suspects obedience from his people. Obedience to his call to preach repentance. We do not know why Jonah chose disobedience besides his attitude beyond he himself want Nineveh to be destroyed.
There are times of life we may find ourself in opposition to God. It can be as simple as a girls video asking about salvation, but if if i like the touch of a women and I am gay and admitted it. I thought about her question all day. No where in scripture does it say that homosexuality is okay. I never reponded to the video not to sure how old that post was.
The eunuch by birth, occuptional hazard/in form of slavery/ servanthood by choice could cause a male leave him with emotional desires that may of been handled by someone like himself then opposite human being. God turned them over to there sin, but it maybe not sin of election. Jonah was in opposition to God and God turned him around with the same mercy he gave Nineveh. As men and woman age their sexual habits might change as well. Meaning health can affect men parts as well as ladies effecting sexual desire. A gay person might hope those desires change in time because of physical desire or they can place it in the hands of God of how and why he created them. A person with both sexes in their body or only one gender with emotions which seem in opposition to God's will for there life, how can it be. God also creates people with no gender identy. What do I think. The question right or wrong should be where is God directing you to your mate. If you want children biologically you need to decide if you want a spouse according to God's will and choice for your life. Go from there whether it worth sacrifice of emotions and desires one as for a healthy what most would call opposite sex marriage. The scenerios are real but each individual must answer to God themselves.
Jonah was in opposition to God even after Nineveh repented and God showed mercy. Why because he thought destruction in this matter was better because he knew they would sin again. God showed him what the world be like if he allow the worm to eat the plant. Jonah could not hid own need of repentance. Church and God's people are called to love all people despite gender identy. Each person is called to repent to there own rebellion against God. What your sin that is in direct opposition to God's will for your life?
Dear Heavenly Father turn our hearts to be obedient to you. Not following in the ways of sin but your will for our life. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Jonah 4:7-11 KJV
7 But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.
8 And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.
9 And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.
10 Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:
11 And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle? http://www.turtle30cshell.com
