Proverbs 16:1-9 KJV
1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

Evil has no place In righteous man's heart. God create evil for day of judgment. God created evil to be destroyed, it is not a hard concept to understand because it gives men choice to follow God or evil ways.

To seek righteousness is to seek humility and not the ways of a prideful heart that seeks evil. We might feel prideful of our ability but it is an abonimation to the Lord. Why is even being prideful of good evil? Our pride is not to rule us to make us better then ways of God. Nothing wrong with striving to be good and to be proud of following ways of God but we are not to think ourselves as being better then others or even God.

Humble Spirit admits his imperfections and goes not in the ways of the prideful. Pride goes before a fall. Yet we are defeated by God by our pride that is boastful of our goodness. Humility is not prideful even in good works.

Hard concept to learn about pride but to learn humility we must retract all pride out of our life. Seeking godly humility of truth and mercy through faith.

Dear Heavenly Father teach us true humility through faith leaving our pride behind, in Jesus precious name, Amen.
