Meal Before My Enemies
5/26/2024

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 23:5 KJV
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Tomorrow is Memorial day and we celebrate the lives that died for our nation. Today we looking at people willing to die and did die for Gospel of Jesus. There are Christians that preached their last sermon because it was before their enemies. When psalmist David talk about a meal occuring before his enemies was he talking about Goliathe? Was he talking about King Saul? Was he talking about his father sheep befores wolves and lions licking there chops ready to devour him? Was he talking about all the above despite which enemy seem to be near his kingdom at the time. God anoint' David to become king, a psalmist and a hero.

In the New Testament in Acts men were raise up or anointed by God to preach but the sermon was appetizing to all that received the Gospel in love and repentance. Stephen preached a good sermon. He was called by God to preach the Gospel. We only have three sermons from Stephen in scripture. First one was the introduction to the work and call of Stephen life as a deacon. The second sermon was long winded sermon to Jewish leadership. Third sermon is the way he died after he preached before the enemies of God. His sermon enough to fill him with power of God but God gave him desert when he seen heaven open and then he was stoned to death. His sermon would prick the heart of Saul whose name would be changed to Paul. He was a soldier. The one's that stone Stephen laid their robes at Saul's feet. It would be the one sermon that would prepare Saul heart to meet Jesus.

What we know God prepares the heart of one man would later feed thousands and go out of cities to be beaten and stoned. Arising to go forward to the next town sharing Jesus.

What we know as a believer is there are times we standing before our enemies and preaching for whatever God has in store spreading the Gospel. We can not fear those that are not Christ's friend yet but we need to give them the message God prepare's in our heart. God's word is a meal of endless life that receive it or a meal of death that receive it not.

Dear Heavenly Father, please always prepare my heart to share not only the Gospel to friends but also my enemies, but prepare those hearts of the enemy for a heart change for you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Acts 7:49-60 KJV
49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
50 Hath not my hand made all these things?
51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.
54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
