Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Proverbs 2:1-22 KJV
1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

The Wisdom of many religions can described as harlots of true faith. Many of us hear through out the day wisdom of the ancient religions across social media. Some of us skim past, while others read what they are saying. Some sayings sound almost like Bible truths but are not. Divine wisdom can only come from God. And now those philophers have I lost you. Perhaps not. We all decide whose wisdom we follow. We decide who words are true in the very nature of truth and whether we follow God's word or not. If we believe God's wisdom is sole truth then no other wisdom as all truth unless from God.

In Proverbs wisdom is refered to as being a woman and all other wisdom being strange woman. There is some truth in all forms of wisdom with a warning but strange wisdom is often desirable and what be the harm in following it's advice. Ask Eve when listening to wisdom of the serpent. It simply not the words of God. If we are going to follow godly wisdom from God the serpent has no place in our heart and mind of curiousity. Curiousity killed the cat and satisfaction brought it back. How many lives did that cat have; they say nine. Adam and Eve with knowledge of the consquences of good and evil now chose to thank God for a offspring. Chose what type of life they were following and if it would be in the ways of God as in the garden or choosing to allow forbidden fruit to be eaten all over again. To eat and follow the ways of death is called sin or follow the ways of God which is choosing righteousness.

There a point if we follow pathways of God despite our own desire to follow in the path of what appears fun but in time or immediately turns to disaster. We find God's wisdom was true about it all. One bite from the forbidden tree introduce man and his offspring to more temptation of evil then man ever dream of or desired.

Man been trying since they were cast out to follow in the ways of God as Satan nipped at man's heels. Now that you heard what I had to say on the subject go back to the top and see what God's word says he do for you if you will follow in his ways of wisdom.

Let's see the list did you get it right. "Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God, 2 he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly, 3 he preserveth the way of his saints, 4 you will understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path, 5 discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee, 6 God's wisdom will deliver thee from the way of the evil man, and 7 from the man that speaketh froward things".

With wisdom you gain knowledge and understanding without having to find out things the hard way in life that lead to a pit called hell. Turn to godly wisdom. Turn away from the strange woman wisdom that is a harlot dress in sheep's wool looking like a child of God but is not.

Dear Heavenly Father teach us your wisdom and your ways. Giving us understand so we follow not the harlot in sheep attire. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Proverbs 4:1-15 KJV
1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

1 Corinthians 1:17-31 KJV
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
