Luke 23:54-56 KJV
54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Saturday was the Sabbath Day of rest. Woman made preparation for the first day of the week which would become the Christian Sabbath. Right now at this moment after the cross and burial all the woman and disciples cpuld do was wait. In fact no one even at this point consider had even conside He would rise again from the grave. In fact the preparations of the spice speaks this truth. They would finish the burial process on Sunday. Despite there was a death, despite Jesus was there teacher, they observed religious law according to custom. They were not allow to do any work on the Sabbath.

Tomorrow we read what happens but today we are resting

Dear Heavenly Father your Son laid in the tomb for three days. Your people wait to continue waiting blind to what you were fixing to do. Lord help us to wait in our blindness in anticipation of what you well and can do. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
