New Covenant Wine
3/14/2024

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 5:33-39 KJV
33 And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?
34 And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
35 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
36 And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.
39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

The new covenant explained without the word covenant. Jesus is the bridegroom and John was only the forerunner of Jesus much like the Jewish covenant was the forerunner of the Messiah. A preparation for Christ coming. If I teach you traditions of the laws and one obey them not, am I in opposition to a law that is good. Christians need not to be in oppositions against Jews, but many are the way Pharisees were in opposition to the things Christ did not by traditions. Our observations of the law are very legalistic society, yet the liberation of the precious traditions came when outsiders not understanding tradition want to believe and serve Jesus(the bridegroom). Jesus also consider the High Priest. Traditions are for a purpose a reminder of faith. The laws and tradition becoming weight in faith of those not understanding tradition. It like trying to be fundamentalist and in the heart and life you are more a conservative or a liberal. You are running free in society without a yoke and bridle that controls one's every movement. Those that live by traditions and understand the traditions do not feel they are restricted. In fact the outside world of there traditions seem sinful at times despite they believe there is weightier sin like sexual immortality being sin. It more of the do's and don'ts in polite society being equally sinful like littering and wearing a haltertop to the mall. Those living in liberal society is laughing because they dont see it as sin at all. What harm is this lifestyle. At one time in Africa and other nations people dressed with little garments in life style especially in the heat where Arabs and Jews wear long flowing garments. Yet for religious society these things were frown on as far as less attire.

The idea is put a hill billy in the middle of a big city if the gangs didnt kill him, he be lost for direction why because you cant say go up the road and down a hollar before turning up the crik and cross the bridge til you come to a pond and take sharp right and you see Mrs jones shack and 100 more feet there mr smith house with loose shutters and there is the church. In the city it would be take a right at the next light go up three blocks and turn up Jefferson ST and go 2 blocks and make a right on Lincoln Avenue and go up two buildings and the place your looking for is on the leftside of the road but you can park on the right or go up a block and park in the parking building. Now whose lost. If you follow direction or read a map your fine in the city but city slicker is still trying to find the pond.

Now there a point if you only grew up with Old Testament then New Testament teaches similiar things about faith but the promise of Jesus being the bridegroom is foreign because the name Jesus. If I said Immanuel would it be clearer? Maybe not. If I only have the New Testament and read without the Old Testament any reference to Old Testament would need to be explained by a scholar of the Old. However to put a Christian in a Temple even for observation might be to much. We live in time our Christian traditions moved even further from judaism but not from God or faith word or Holy Spirit. Jesus being the word came in the flesh to teach the important things of faith to non believers still would of need Jewish scholars to weigh the meaty things of the word.

When we live by the Spirit does anything else matter. Not really but you got to have faith in Christ to be filled by the Holy Spirit. In Revelation we see two groups standing before the throne. 144,000 from each tribe of Jew people and a whole bunch of gentiles. Interesting because how did these Jews become saved. Did faith or covenant change. God's chosen people will have the knowledge of the Messiah already have come but will not alter their traditions. They will observe the traditions God laid out for them and those that do not observe will continue to teach faith to people outside traditions of the church and temple. That so all can know Christ. You cant put old wine in a new vessel but you can put the same mixture of the first wine skin in a new wine skin and it will not break perserving both.

Dear Heavenly Father remind those receiving your word the two vessels have the same mixture of faith that produce everlasting faith. May your word be explained as we continue to study from all walks of life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 7:1-10 KJV
1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
