Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 13:24-30 KJV
24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Matthew 13:36 KJV
36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

Matthew 13:47-51 KJV
47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
51 Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

Read all of Matthew 13 if you have time. I am listing only what I am highlighting. The year I grew green beans and hope for a few bushals was the year morning glories grew among them. If you know anything about them, they are beautiful on a trellis but not in a garden bed of green beans. That one weed if you catch it early enough best to loose a few bean plants and not the entire row and other plants in the garden. Now if the morning glories are already entangled your best bet is to pick your crops and leave them alone because you will rip out any plants in the garden by pulling on the vine and loose vegetables growing on these plants.

The story of the tares being sown is to allow good and bad plants to grow together until harvest where the angels separate the good from the bad. As we go further in the chapter Christ shares the responsibility of fishermen who gather fish to shore and once on shore they toss everything they caught into two separate piles. The good in one pile and the bad in the other pile.

Angels in heaven will separate the bad from the good. God has his people sealed by the Holy Spirit and mark is on the believers forehead. We are already prechosen for our destination because of faith in Jesus. Those that are lost only have a short time before the judgment comes.

There are people who care not whether the Gospel is shared. This is one of the antichrist message. The believers call on there life is to mingle with the lost and dying world. Truth the tares might try and choke the believer out but security is faith in Christ Jesus we are already ripe and waiting for the angels to seperate us from them. Until that time we grow and learn together about this world we are in. These weeds have hope of being transform not because of works but because of what Christ did for each of us. The non believers see our fruit over time no longer want to be chokers but huggers of faith in Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father we might not like the weeds but you know if they can change into a beautiful plant for you. Give us patients with the weeds in our life bearing the testimony of Jesus so the weeds can see the light of faith in Christ's Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

Ephesians 1:13 KJV
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
